I had heard it was 10% but theres no way D:
To +11 for the first attempt took ~45 attempts
after 267 attempts, I have given up at getting +12

*shrug* I don't bother with +10 gears unless they have effects that kick in with overupgrades. +9's fine with me for most things.

Yah,,, that usually happen...
When I was +13'in my back up KvM SoD, I used around 200+ ores and got just 3 +13 so far (I thought +14 on spare one might be a good idea as well >_>)... but after I ran out of ores, decided to just try +13 again so bought around 200 ores again... for my surprise, it took me just 1 ore from +12 to +13...
Since then, the 199 ores left have been on storage waiting for me to make another +10 staff...

Am I missing something here or you folks just have a lot of money to throw away? I can see why you would do that for weapons since higher ATK+MATK = more firepower but for defense.... it's one of the most useless stats in the game and stacking reducts are actually 100x better.

Out of 700 HD Bradium, +12 7 times, +13 once - didn't dare attempt +14 once I got my first +13... maybe I was on my "streak to 14" and would've had it on my next attempt but eh, +13 is a good number too for my Glorious Bloody Roar~
On a bright note, I saved 70m z to get it +13 this week
