1st and most important.....
good antivirus, legally purchased and regularly updated......
cracked antivirus cannot be trusted.

dont repeat passwords,share passwords for multiple accounts, share passwords with ppl....

please for the love of god dont reveal too much info like who your ISP provider is, etc.....

format your OS once in 6 months/1year if possible....

you guys can add suggestions too......


doing this cos forced password change caused me to lose 3 accounts for which i dont remember any info and the ticket response is im not the owner of the account and hence not their customer...

Stop bragging in-game that you're rich. You will likely get hacked than someone who doesn't.

actually im not rich zeny-wise and definitely not $$-wise....and i would be happy to lose everything i posses on RO so i could finally quit it......i just keep coming back to this game every time i quit.......

The reason people who flash zeny around get hacked so much is that these examples of the flamboyantly rich who got hacked got their wealth in whole or in part by botting or buying zeny, and got infected with RO password stealers as a result.

I've been flashing legit zeny around for years.
I've said many times in tech support forums that I use Comcast residential internet service in Cambridge MA, complete with tracerts showing my IP. For much of that time I wasn't running antivirus software - no virus problems either.

You get hacked by doing things you shouldn't - either by engaging in illegal activities (zeny buying, botting, client hacks, etc), or by sharing your password with trash (particularly with e-significant-others - in-game relationships always end in stupid drama, and often hacked accounts. Never share accts with people you're in a e-romantic relationship with).
Another thing you shouldn't do is sign up for accounts with false information - which you agreed not to do when you accepted the Terms of Service. Very few people forget their real names, and I don't think any of those people are in a condition to play RO.

Know what you're looking for in the case of keyloggers. If you don't know what you're looking for, find someone who does.

You can end up with a Keylogger on your system from anything, sometimes you won't even know the source. Last year, many Blizzard accounts were compromised when a chinese goldselling company injected their keylogger into flash ads, and the system would download them when they loaded. Flash had to update their software.

The easiest way to avoid getting a Keylogger is to avoid going to sites that would compromise your system or expose your system to keyloggers - that is, pornography sites, or gold-selling sites.

Most of the time, these companies are NOT after your game information. But they will take it if they find it.

Most of the time they are after your BANK and CREDIT CARD information, which is dangerous if you do online banking.

You want a good, legal, non-cracked Antivirus program. Personally I use Norton but I've heard good things of AVG.

On top of this, you'll want to get Malwarebytes, which, obviously, seeks out Malware, and Spybot Search And Destroy, which is a heavy-duty Spyware seeker. Both of these things are able to run on top of most antivirus programs without interference.

Formatting your OS that often is exaggerating it and is unnecessary unless there really is a huge problem with your current configurations.
