I have read about the merits of the high level mercenary scrolls provided through boxes/packs. I want to try using this method to level but am a bit confused on the exact procedure.

I have 10 fencer scrolls, plenty of BMx3s, and an alchemist soon to be rebirthed. What am I supposed to do?

Do I go to a really high level area and bring out the mercenary and use a hide clip? Or do I choose a mobbier area? Should I bring the mercenary potions or whatever they have in payon?

The only real experience I have with mercs is buying the lvl 1 archer one and spamming berserk or whatever so that it looks like she's dancing. Thanks in advance for the tips/advice/grandma's bits of wisdom.

They aren't as ridiculous as they used to be, but first things first...do you have a merc compatible AI?

I have Dr Azzy something for my homun which I believe works with Mercs

I use magmarings, gets me to level 70ish pretty fast with manuals.

The AI for Mercs is located in a different location of the client than for homuncs. It's allegedly just as easy to implement as the homunc A.I., however. Azzy's merc A.I. I think is slightly different than homunc, but I'd have to check.

I use them in overlook. Easy 30-80+ (just dont leave/die after 75). Can do this in 1-2 scrolls (possibly 1 if I didnt have to job change in the middle). With manuals, it's even faster. 3x in overlook is probably the most broken form of leveling I've seen yet. Today, I was getting 60%+ with one kill at certain levels.

So do I just pop the scroll and let the ai attack stuff? I just stand there and wing around and pray I don't get owned by a hydra/drosera?

Pretty much... xD Make sure you used /merai to set the custom mercenary AI in place of the basic RO merc AI

iROwiki is back up. Here's the Merc page. Keep in mind that without a custom AI, the default Merc AI will be passive unless directed otherwise, or the summoner is attacked.
