mhm i'm having the same problem too, for weeks now.and i also know another one who has this problem too..and yes, i tried both way of uploading.

Its a known bug and it has been reported and its still in pending.

What you can do is save the image to your computer Save As [Save as type - 24-bit Bitmap (*.bmp;*.dib)]. Then upload it using imageshack.us & use the direct link. At least this way always seems to work for me.

o.O i think its fixed because i was able to directly upload a png avatar from my pc.
