Valid points of criticism but this doesn't really have much to do with pre-renewal and renewal. First of all I'm pretty sure the skill tree was actually implemented by the end of pre-renewal, but for some reason it's not supported by the current client, and I have no idea why.1. The system for Battlemode. God, I HATED it in prerenewal and this reminds me why I only ever used one row of hotkeys. Such a pain to get in and out of... Renewal did this nicely.
2. The skill tree. For some reason I seem to remember this actually being in for pre-renewal, but maybe it's a later patch? Right now it's just a long list of a bunch of skills. Urgh.
And secondly, these issues hardly have anything to do with renewal vs pre-renewal. These are just additions to the client, and have nothing to do with the mechanics or gameplay changes which is what sets pre-renewal and renewal apart from each other.
Let's look at it from the other side.
Things renewal did wrong: Everything that has to do with RO's gameplay.

It's much more challenging but also much more worth it in pre-re, and that's why everyone wanted it.
Including the people that got fed up of RO from the exp bar going no where!

It was, the only thing that was changed with renewal UI wise was the battle mode. The trade window, skill tree, party window.. all that was done in the updates just before renewal.
Speaking of battle mode.. what? I mean you lose your ability to type and an extra binds.. and that's it. seriously, you can put any skill or item on any letter key. It's not THAT different FFS. All that really changed was you could bind to non-letter keys and press enter to exit bm.
Now the exp.. all I can say is the exp CURVE was better in renewal. Holy crap that curve 93+

for some reason the system does not remember my previous command entries.
whenever i open a new client,
alt+M always reset to default
and /nc is always off
I had this issue at first as well. Then some friends pointed out to me to make sure i was loading the client under administrator, and once i did that, the settings I choose stayed saved.

Instant cast... is stupid... but it is a part of original RO mechanics, even before 2-2 classes.
Instant casting the same skill over and over is retarded though. Skill specific cooldowns fix that.
Theoretically, this would be ideal:
You can instant cast Stormgust.
But you can't instant cast two stormgusts back to back.
But you can instant cast storm gust and then jupitel thunder back to back.
On the other hand, renewal also removed instant cast.
Of course, they sort of had to, seeing as how getting the 150 dex to obtain instant cast in pre-renewal meant a sacrafice of stats, post renewal 150dex is ezmode.
So they had to scrap the whole physics, because of a thing called power creep.
http://penny-arcade....ode/power-creep
Putting in cooldowns was a good idea.
Putting in the non-reducable cast time was a terribad idea.
They should have extended cooldowns to most skills, instead of only 3rd class ones.
And left the cast time formula as-is.

these could easily be in pre-renewal
That's kind of the point.

-Ability to display exp gained when you kill monsters or finish a quest
-Option to toggle damage/cast logs
-Buff timers
-Customize your hotkeys
Bad thing with renewal's interface:
-Cash shop button!

Lot easier to just hit enter than type /bm when you're in a mob of monsters.

yeah, it can be a pain in the a$s but, we need to improvise for the meantime.Yes, you can enable it with /bm but it is still a pain to do and I guarantee I'm going to be doing the 1111111111111111111111111 thing as I try to get a hotkey to work, lol.
