How do you edit ai's?

There is a basic AI for it, but I propose to use Azzy's AI:

Do I just open it and bam, I got a merc working?

Yes if you change ingame to the different AI with /merai or in the option menu (standard is ALT + Y i guess) but sometimes you want to improve your AI, then open the GUI of Azzy's AI, there you can config a lot of things.

Well basically you put the azzy files into your AI in the RO folder. then in the game you need to type in /merai (something like that) to change the default mercenary ai to the azzy one. The same is true for the homunculus except that it's /hoai

You will need to relog or resummon your merc for the new ai to take effect. I suggest practicing with the archer mercenaries you can buy in payon archer village (they're pretty cheap) before you use more valuable mercenaries.
