DDsin skill help required!

Hi, so I have finally started playing iRO few days back and decided to start a DD sin. I've just advance to a sin and maxed right/left hand mastery, now I'm stuck as to what i need to add for my skills. After reading several guides, I found out that most of it are vague and does not go into full detail as of what to add and why. My questions are listed below.

1) Guide says katar mastery is needed but why? :hmm:
2) Are sonic blow and grimtooth needed? (Katar users only)
3) Should I max cloaking/enchant poison/poison react?
4) Are venom dust and venom splasher worth adding?

Any positive feedback are greatly appreciated!! :thx:

I recommend going for Cloaking 10 instead of Venom Splasher, but that's just my personal preference.
I do like Poison React, it always counters a physical attack with Envenom Level 5 (even if you only learned lvl 3), which pretty much equals a full double attack on the enemy.
(for example: I hit a Merman for 900 HP with a double attack, Poison Reacts counter attack deals another 900 damage)

I couldn't try Venom Splasher so far, because I just reached job lvl 40 and I need another job lvl to get VS to lvl 1.


Any of the Katar Skills are not needed, unless you wan't to go for a Hybrid build and keep using both, Katars and Daggers.

The poison skills are TERRIBAD. They are truly useless, with the exception of Enchant Poison, which is only nearly useless. With that, you get to use the one WORST ELEMENT IN THE GAME on your weapon. Why you would want to do this is unclear - elemental converters are cheap as dirt on renewal servers, and there are all sorts of ways to get an endow - plus most people have an endow slave anyway (and you should too if you're making a melee, especially if you're on classic). Poison ele weapon is vaguely useful in classic for hitting ghost monsters. In renewal, it doesn't do enough damage to ghosts that it would be better to kill them like that vs teleporting away to find more of your target monster.
Venom dust is useless because poison is a crap status, not worth inflicting. Everyone's immune in pvp, and in pvm, you don';t get exp for damage dealt by poison, and the defense reduction isn't worth the time spent casting VD, let alone the gemstone. (just like in real life, you should avoid getting VD)
Venom Splasher is too awkward to use to be worth it. The damage is disappointing, and it's really hard to use.
Poison React is a very strange skill. I had it once a long time ago, and really wanted it to be good. It just plain wasn't. I really tried to give it a chance too. The DPS improvement is trivial, and when it counters an attack, it doesn't block the attack, just whacks back with a wimpy envenom.

A much better play is to max the Katar skills, providing your charachter with much greater versitility - you could pick up a katar, put on a chick hat - and presto, you're a non-crit katar sin.

Thanks Morlord and DrAzzy. Its abit clearer to me now. However I'm still having doubts after reading "Sin-SinX-GX newbie guide" at the pinned section, it says that

Basics of your ALL Assassin Cross:
Very similar to previous build on Sin, however you MUST have level 5 Advance Katar Mastery. (yes you may have katar mastery level 7, no a big deal.)


This is the confusing part, issit really a MUST even for DD sins?

^ I guess that refers to Katar/Hybrid Builds mostly, because Adv. KM adds more damage to your Katar than the regular Mastery does and depending on how you want to spend your skill points, you might want to sacrafice those 3 points from the regular Mastery to put them into an attack skill for example.


Which server are you playing on btw, renewal or classic?


If renewal, then those are the "must have" skills (when trans), due to them unlocking skills of the SinX/GX skill tree:

Envenom 10 (for create/enchant d.p)
Enchant Poison 6 (for soul destroyer and meteor assault)
Cloaking 3 (for gx skill tree)
Left Hand Mastery 5 (for gx skill tree)
Sonic Blow 10 (for gx skill tree)


Other than that, choose Dr.Azzy's skill build over mine, I guess that would be better for now.
