For the LAA/PAE, well I stand corrected, I guess I confused them after messing with both in the past.First of all it's called LAA not PAE - Large Address Awareness. However this tool is not necessary anymore since LAA is already activated by default yet. Physical Address Extension is the hardware based technique while Large Address Awareness is the flag used in the Windows Operation System to make PAE possible for 32-bit applications.
If portals/textures/objects are missing from the beginning there might be a patching error. If these things disappear after time some kind of RAM is full and the game gets out of Memory errors - or - you use an Intel I7 of an older generation which has problems with enabled hyperthreading when playing older games (more regarding this issue can by found by using google search).
The game can use up to 2GB+ RAM in some specific situations when playing for hours and changing areas often especially to areas with a lot of players/monsters.
The 2GB+ problem is not a problem since Arcadia, the problem started especially with the introduction of the New Origin update.
I still want to congratulate the development team that integrated that into DS since 2014, and fixed the memory leak that we had at that time.
I'm indeed using an Intel i7, but HT is disabled.
My desktop is mostly made of :
- Intel i7 6700K, not OC, HT disabled at the moment
- 8 GB DDR4 RAM
- AMD RX 470, 8GB version
- Windows 10
I've heard of small performance drop (max 10%), but I've never heard of actual problems with i7. Any search key word suggestion to google the issue ? I'm only getting results about performance.
I'm going to reboot and enable HT to see if it changes something this evening. I will also check on other computers (I also have i7 3632QM + Nvidia GTX 660M laptop, and a i3 3***U laptop with iGPU).
So here's what I'm experiencing, every time that I go into the Secret Lava Cave :
