Well I use tg-drake in main hand and bapho-sk in offhand so it works for me, my main goal isnt to lvl super fast but have fun while leveling xD

If you look at just the normal numbers my DAs range from 1.5k upto 4k if I have an endow going like at scarabs but I crit quite often with fury and lucky day going. Things usually die fairly fast because I have a bunch auto casts that go off at the same time: cd in mouth, mb from tg card, sg and freeze from sk, a.rofl, earthquake from the queen transformation. I've seen EQ dmg range from 1k-4k per hit depending if there is a mob or single monster. Funniest thing to see is the lucky day going off from sg hits xD and magnum break freezing mobs.

I'm planning on the following:
STR: 105
AGI: 120
VIT: 94
INT: 1
DEX: 75
LUK: 90
With 12 points left over, so either 1 LUK/DEX/VIT.
Any opinions on this? I'm locked at 105 STR & 75 DEX currently.

as final stats? you're better off taking off 5 str and getting 80 dex at least. multiples of 20 get a bonus when wearing a FAW, while base 90 stats help when wearing HBP.

I've already got 105 STR so was hoping to avoid buying a load of reset stones. Is LUK actually going to be that useful for a RC 175 build now I think about it?

Well, it's an extra 30 atk, hit, 18 flee, and 9 perfect dodge. It also gives you resistance to a ton of status effects (tho not by a large quantity.) The other thing is that if you do decide to crit (some MVPs agi up and so you have to crit) it'll be useful there.

Is critting viable with katar's though? I thought it was the DD approach (which I can't do due to job changing at 50).

Katars were the original crit weapon. DD Crit only became a thing in recent times when loads of ASPD and CRIT granting gears and consumables came out. DD Crit is also dependent on tons of expensive gear, where-as you can crit many MVPs with something like a thanatos katar or a chakram + cuffs combo.

It's the easiest one, since at 90 luck you already have base 30 crit (which with a katar is 60 crit), so all you need is another 20 or so crit which you can get from a sapha cloth with enchants, a rogue's treasure, sharp enchants on a weapon, or even just consumables (buche del noel, desert sandwich, abrasive, etc.)
Then just hit stuff with whatever Katar. For a proper MVPing weapon, chakram + sin cuffs combo is the best cuz of the big 40% bonus and 2 card slots. Otherwise you can go with an Aunoe carded whatever or even a high upgraded KVM weapon.

[ edit: the wiki says to use full sapha gear -- don't do that, but use an enchanted sapha cloth since those are rad and can get a some nice 'sharp enchants' which give at least 6 (12) crit each. ]
But katar-crit builds are probably the easiest to make since you don't even need dex for them. I'd never suggest going 'full critical' as the stats are totally lop sided, but rather to just swap out gear and to use some consumables for whatever MVPs that cast agi-up.
In terms of other stuff, just stack ASPD + base attack + crit damage stuff. You maximize damage by juggling the damage mods so that they are all pretty high instead of just fontloading one, but yeah. Things like little feather hat + angra mantis card, or an eddga hat, or size/racial cards etc.

well here's my stats [katar/dd-da] [hbp/hybrid] build. can woe and mvp of course, but not the highest dps for mvps coz it is [dd-crit] build that does that^^.
