I don't want to stop receiving notifications, but I really hate the fact that every single post that comes after mine in the thread, generates a new notification, instead of just telling that there is a notification, and then, often I see my notification box filled by 50+ notifications, being 70% of them about the same topic.

You can just set it to not notify you instantly after every little thing. You'll still receive notifications in your notifications list (the alert button between your inbox and username on the top bar). I set my notification frequency to none and my notification list still gets notifications.
