But Poisioning weapon > Hiding 3/3. Hiding 3/3 is just a movement speed boost which is meh.

what's up with shadow explosion? it seems weaker than deadly blow...
Maybe you're not using it right?
At level 42, my DB generates somewhere between 5xx and 1xxx damage with 5 combo points.
Shadow explosion generates somewhere between 7xx and 14xx damage.
Both of them are at level 5...
While typing this, I just remembered something important: the skill animation.
That, and the obvious "you'll be using DB more often than Shadow Explosion, because of cool down"

I am unsure about maxing SA... It would be better getting Genocide Mark instead so this build would also work for PvE but I really like PvP more.
Since Poison Weapon gives way too little dps increase, I thought about maxing SA so when I iniciate with Hiding it would cause a great burst/kill steal.
What do you guys think?
Thanks in advance,

yea DB is insta cast while SE has longer animation. as i leveled up SE I have noticed a significant increase in damage compared to DB. maybe lvl 5 DB > lvl 1 SE

The only thing I've noticed is DB seems to crit more than SE, I get the feeling it has a hidden bonus to critical rate or something because it crits far more than it should (Statistically speaking).

I noticed this same thing on my level 38 Sin... first number is a normal hit and the second is a crit. Both Shadow Explosion and Deadly Blow are at 5/5, Shadow Form is at 5/5 and I tested this on the same mob respawn 10 times to make sure there wasn't that much of dmg variance.
293/493 shadow explosion
385/782 deadly blow
Maybe Shadow Explosion gets better at 50? I don't see how but I will revisit this thread when I get there.

450/1015 Shadow Explosion 5/5 at 5 combo points
650/1300 Deadly Blow 5/5 at 5 combo points
Tested on Desert Peco Baby around 30 kills for a decent average on each skill. In this test 1/30 times Shadow Explosion did 800ish dmg non-crit which means it could possibly do around 1600 crit damage, however, that's a very low percentage of having that high dmg compared to deadly blow that is highly reliable (the average was basically consistent without it going higher or lower).
Does anything else influence Shadow Explosion damage? Maybe gear and gear upgrading will make a difference in the variance of high/low average damage?
This is the build I used for leveling:

I'm thinking about getting a skill reset to only have 1 Hiding and move points out of Dark Illusion (this skill was awesome for questing, IMO)... dunno why my Shadow Explosion is so weak tho. I feel like I might want to ditch getting it all together and just sticking with Deadly Blow and maybe moving those points to Poisoning Weapon and MoG. Might need to rename my class to Super Thief.

Only thing thats "better" about Deadly Blow is the speed of it.

I have a question; Should we really max shadow strike? 42% damage every 20 secs seems not very usefu to mel. I only have 1 at the moment and only serves as a combo point generator.

Well Shadow Explosion is our only 2nd tier finisher so no choice but to put skill points on it. The only time I find it awesome is when both strikes are critical hits.

Can you make that difference in damage up somewhere else? If not, the points are better making it 5/5.

Does that count the fact that Shadow Explosion is multiple hits not just one? You have to count all the hits together not just one. Shadow Explosion IS better, if its not, then its a bug, end of story. It's a higher damage % so it's better, its that simple, but the thing is the damage is spread over 2 (or possibly 3, can't quite remember) hits, where as Deadly Blow is all the damage in one hit.
Only thing thats "better" about Deadly Blow is the speed of it.
I hadn't noticed it was doing the same dmg twice! I see that now.... this game needs a better combat log that shows more than the obvious (the mob has died!). Which means these numbers need tweaking...
900/2030 Shadow Explosion 5/5 at 5 combo points
650/1300 Deadly Blow 5/5 at 5 combo points
So... then it is better! Thanks for opening my eyes to this before I spec'd out of it....
Even more hilarious when it comes to my blind eyes, I never noticed the skill effect for Shadow Fiend until I had it at 3/3
