I equipped chewing gum and popped an HEgum thinking they would stack, but no. When Chewing Gum activates, it cancels out the HEgum ==> I wasted 14min of my HEGum. working as intended? x_x

LOL. It's not the chewing gum that fail.. If you know what i mean.
It doesn't say that anywhere in the in-game description, which is where people would actually look.

I know exactly what you mean.
Just checked in game - and the red item description is no longer.
No clue how you guys got some likes on those posts. lol...
In case anyone is wondering, the Bubble Gum kafra items and Chewing Gum headgear don't stack!
Campitor stated on 7/10/2013 Maintenance Thread (page 8) that;
"it will overwrite other gums. We are adding a strong warning about this to the Chewing Gum Item right now."

VIP + HE gum + Chewing Gum + 2x drops + Spotlight. GG
Posted 23 August 2013 - 06:13 AM
so an important item description was on the 8th page of maintenance notes
i didn't decide to use chewing gum until yesterday, so there's no way I would have known, nor would other people who would come back to RO after a break and want to try this item

As mentioned earier, if you use an HE Bubble Gum, and your Chewing Gum activates, it will overide your existing HE Bubble Gum effect.

Was just pointing out how absurd of an expectation it would have been to add ANOTHER multiplier.

you might think it's absurd now, but when you look back, game breaking -_- happens all the time
refining: HD ores + mighty hammer ===> enriched ores ===> safe to 7 certs ==> enriched hammer ===> safe to 10 certs
means easy mode refining
pots: fat whites/slims ===> rudolph hat ==> rudolph hat nerf but witch pumpkin hat remains original power
means save millions on pots, even billions. also can carry A LOT of pots, making easy mode lvling + cheap lvling
mvp summoner: allowing unlimited tao farming
means woe with taos all over the place

I'm going to reference this thread in the item desc fixes thread.
The description for this item absolutely needs that warning, and I swear it used to be there.

Agree, when Chewing Gum first came out the warning was in red in the description. I don't know why it was removed some time later.

Yup! You're not losing your mind yet
This is also a great example of how you get something fixed right away before it becomes a stagnant issue. Good example to follow.

so if an item says it autocasts blessing on ne while attacking, I should expect that if I manually cast blessing on myself or get a priest to, I should expect the hat to give me a New double bless effect if the description doesn't say on red it will overwrite my normal bless? That is what I am taking away from this thread so far.
he gum is an item. the drops increase from chewing gum is from equipment. none of which are skills. not the same comparison
anyway, thanks dr. azzy for posting it on the fix description for me

In most cases, you can't override a higher level buff with a lower one - so in the above example, the bless auto-casting item would either replace the lower level of bless you got (which will increase stats more, and increase the duration - no negative effect here), or it would do nothing (no negative effect here either).
The blessing status does not involve a major expenditure to obtain - it is unlimited, costing only SP from any aco class character. HE Gum is about 10mil a pop and has limited availability.

So if i use bless scrolls from the kafra shop, then. ...?
It won't override the bless you currently have active unless the autocast effect is casting a higher level (which would have a longer duration and larger stat boost - so you'd have no grounds to object).
But that's not how it works with the gum effect, which is sort of the whole point of this thread.

adrenaline rush. has a weaker effect on party members than the caster. Some one casting ar will overwrite my paid for ar scrolls with a weaker effect.
This is not a fair comparison. Party members can do all sorts of things to hinder you though (they could dispel you, endow you the wrong element, or drag too large a mob and wipe the party, wasting your kafra shop buffs).
Our point is that:
* Chewing Gum overrides buffs with a much weaker version. This is not normal behavior in RO. You can't come up with any analogous situations, and neither can I.
* The buff overridden by Chewing Gum is expensive and in limited supply. Even if buff scrolls could be lost like you proposed above, the size of the loss is trivial.
* The GMs have in other places tried to warn us about this interaction, indicating they feel that notifying players about this is important.
