I simply looked up on one of the site's WHOIS and it's registered by a Chinese named person under GoDaddy's webhost. I wonder if Warpportal can work with other game companies that are being hurt by them as well. and approach the webhost to report abuse on the site. I'm not exactly optimistic this is something that will work but you just got to attack the root of the issue. Banning them and blocking them is just trying to cover their tracks but they still largely exist out there.

Omg I just got pm-ed from a bots about this website as well. The thing is, I wouldn't mind if it's like the bots from other websites, just throw a few lines at me once in a while, but this one just keep pm me nonstop.

The site that does that pming is ruthless. As long as you are on screen of one of their bots they continuously spam you. Some of the other ones store you in a database and pm you like once per hour. Much less annoying than 50 pms per second -.-

There is a stationary one in East Prontera named zxc011, pm spamming instead of public chat spamming. Need a botspot update to warp them away. XD

You can set it so the PMs come into your regular chat window, will help not kill you when you are in the field. It's in the Friend Setup thing, just like when you go for Party Setup...just on the friendlist page.

This just happened to me, they spam every 2 seconds, and guess what happens if you block zxc011? zxc0112 begins. The only way is to do /exall. This is sooo annoying.

Since they automatically PM characters, I suggest a GM just make a character and let it stand there.

You'll get a bunch of PM's from a bunch of botters, and you can either auto-ban through whoever PM's you or manually do so. A live bait

I am currently playing two games that have been annexed on Steam in recent times.

 

One just officially closed it's Beta doors and the other is Ragnarok Online.

 

Ragnarok I have played since forever, and the other for several months and a closed Beta Tester.

 

Both have increased in player base since their annex to Steam and both have increased in Spam, botting and RMT since.

 

It can't be a mere coincidence. Just an observation on my part -  and I am sure the numbers show up too.

 

That is unfortunately the price we have to pay for a healthy influx of "legit" players.

 

I'm not complaining, my crap is selling - Merry Christmas!

I agree that Warpportal should go after the domains. Supposedly, hosting companies actually do look into reports and take action against illegal or troublesome websites. I'm sure you could get them on some kind of intellectual property thing in the least. It's not like they can't make more websites, but it'll waste their real money and time.

Tried that. I left my Biochemist vending overnight so I can catch botters, but it failed miserably when this zxclllll (copied from saved chat text file) guy and his buddies spammed me.

they have evolved...non stop pm spamming.......and to avoid the 3 times repeat filter, they add random numbers at the end......
