For the people that may not be able to make it, maybe you could consider a "gift drop" option.  If, for some reason, someone is not present for the event, have the secret odin drop the gift with you beforehand so the receiver won't get left out.  If the receiver isn't available, maybe the secret odin could send the receiver a PM on the forums to arrange a separate gift giving time.  While it won't be as much fun as taking part in the event, it would still allow the non-denominational international holiday celebration spirit to persist for those unfortunate enough to not make it!

I've already have Secret Odins dropping off gifts to me for that very reason. It's easier for the host to stand in than have a player mistake another for their Secret Odin.

EVENT UPDATE

Okay guys, there's some foreboding news regarding the event.

Due to the performance issues with Lutie and the Christmas quest, I'm looking into using a different (less nice) location for the event. If kRO can patch up the memory leak by the 26th, then the event will go on as planned.

The only other alternative to Lutie is the Toy Factory. If the GMs can disable BBs/DBs in that dungeon temporarily (for 1 day), then we'll be moving the event location to the first floor of the Toy Factory (xmas_dun01).

I really prefer to have the event under the Lutie tree so I may end up postponing the event until the memory leak is fixed. Absolute worst case scenario, I may cancel the whole thing altogether until next year. :x

How bout the field if BBs cant be canceled? Atleast then DB griefing would be pretty low with the DB cooldown and all. Maybe around xmas_fild01 181, 114 where the two cabins are? or possibly the jolly fat mans house. Though im probably underestimating how many people will show up all at once :v

I scouted the field and the layout isn't ideal for the event. As for having it indoors, every house in Lutie is way too small to accommodate ~160 people at once.

If the GMs can disable BBs/DBs on the first floor of Toy Factory, this is the spot the event would be held:

Date has always been December 26. Current consensus for time is 10:00PM PST. I will confirm the set time on the 23rd so others can give feedback if they don't feel the time is good.
