Please update classic NPC zones. It's really annoying to have to take an extra minute to find an NPC because vendors are piled up on top of it. Make no wonder I get new people asking me where battlegrounds is whenever I shout for it.

omg yes +1 please start enforcing these dead zones around NPCs. It's very annoying when you straight up can't click on one without adjusting the camera because people park vends and chats all over them.

Please continue improvements with challenge dungeon and especially quests in general. Especially for lower levels. It will entice players to play more PvM. Also more tutorials. For everything. I ask so many questions it would be nice to have more NPC's in Asgard to help out the new or returning players get refreshed again. =)

May I ask what happened to the Classic Bounty Board proposition that Camp was toying with?

 

He made a thread for it earlier but it didn't last long.

We're working on getting the script updated on Renewal, when that project's finished we'll work on porting it over to Classic.

so what exactly does the CM team plan to do to address the fact that the population of the server appears to be steadily decreasing? every month another guild is leaving. 

 

ya it's depressing for other guilds to come in and crush our econ that we've worked hard to defend and build up...but you know what's even more depressing?

 

this server cannot keep players and it appears that when new players do come, they don't stay. the population gets lower and lower each woe until...there's 3 guilds left.

 

there has been a massive amount of positive feedback on the forums regarding changes to the server. a lot of it hasn't even received a nod or a comment from the CM's. what happened to the discussion on some sort of custom kvm system for iro? what happened to the discussion on making the cooking system less awful? what happened to continuing to buff monster drops and to equalize leveling maps? what happened to the encouraging of party play (which turn ins are nice, but there needs to be more than just those cuz the veterans don't need exp)? what happened to making castle treasure loot better? what happened to fixing the absolute botting extravaganza -_-FEST that is our bg system? tierra is fun as hell. i'd log in everyday if there were people there in tierra pvping. what about balancing the GDs? geffen needs a huge buff in spawn rates and payon could use a smaller buff. plus, the GDs could use a major exp (at least job exp) buff. and what about advertising for the server? cuz i've literally never seen a single advertisement for iro classic...and an un-named "classic" private server that opened december 2014 can get over 2000 people to play their server with relatively few bots. there's clearly an interest in RO, but with nonexistent advertising and occasional, mediocre streaming efforts by the CMs, those players will not come here. i realize that you all cannot be as custom as an illegal server and there are limitations on what you can do with the classic client, but i strongly believe that there are improvements that could be made.

 

i've said it numerous times in my posts that this server is brutal for new players. if we plan to ever get new players, we need to develop a system to help them establish themselves. janeway and giving people class specific weapons is a step in the right direction. but a cute weapon with 80 atk or whatever is not going to get people very far. because janeway gets people to level 75 with a weapon and no armor lolol. what about armors? garmets? shoes? accessories? giving people "lite" versions of a lot of standard gear to help them establish themselves should be a priority for the CM's. an unslotted medium defense armor that gives 250 hp and 25 sp and +5 atk isn't groundbreaking for a low level. make new players have to do a level appropriate quest where they explore a variety of dungeons and kill or something. make them work for it. but have that option available for them if they want it so that they can earn it and feel that sense of pride that they got that armor. if people wanna be hardcore classic and not use janeway or these quests, that's fine.

 

also, giving new players 1k novice potions from janeway or whatever is not enough. it's unfair as -_- that veteran players have access to the pumpkin witch hat and alarm mask and have insanely cheap, near unlimited, very effective HP healing...and new players are stuck forking over all the zeny they earn to buy some normal white potions. why can't there be a middle of the road option for new players? like just making meats heal more or make apples or carrots heal as much as a orange or yellow potion? it's not fair to make it as effective as the pumpkin hat combo, because that undermines the zeny that people have spent on their alarm mask and witch hat...but i think that there is a middle ground here that isn't being explored...and it should.

 

i could go on forever. until my post gets responded to, i'm just going to keep posting it. the fact that WoE is dead is a side effect of having a server no one wants to play. that should be the focus here. the fact that all the attention seems to be going to WoE is misguided and disappointing. yeah the power distribution between guilds is horrendously unequal and i wish it weren't...but the fact that guilds are leaving left and right should be concerning. if i were a part of the CM team here, i would be worried about the recent trends that have taken place on classic. things are not looking good. i appreciate the fact that the new box was generous in terms of items, but i refuse to spend any more money on this game until we get some serious answers.

We are working on these, but we are still a tiny team of 3 people working on two entirely separate servers. I agree that a lot of positive changes can be made and we do read what you guys are saying. Janeway and Asgard are not finished, we are working on addressing the issues of monster equipment drops, beginner gear and most of the other things you have mentioned (advertising is a wholly different can of worms) are still on the agenda.

It's good to know that you guys are working on it and still aware there's issues still to be solved with Janeway/Asgard.

 

One issue I've had lately is you seem to have a lot of projects on the go right now and instead of following them through to completion one at a time you're heavily dividing your time not only between servers (which is necessary) but also ingame projects. One I was really excited for was the Challenge dungeon, it got delayed quite a bit (even longer if you consider we got Nid instead before christmas) and after some help you guys managed to get it implemented. But in it's current state it was a complete waste of your time because nobody has any reason to visit. We had guildmates log on last week after maintenance all excited "I saw the Challenge Dungeon went in how is it guys?" and boy were they disappointed. I know you guys have plans to tweak it and fix any issues with it, but it might as well have not gone in until you have the time to give it the proper love it needs.

 

A quick glance in here and the foundry lists these as things you're actively working on:

  • Janeway
  • Asgard
  • God item/woe balancing
  • 2.0 Fort changes
  • Challenge Dungeon
  • Classic Guides (mostly community, but you're going to have to collect or present them somewhere)

And here's a list of recent things that seem to have fallen by the wayside:

  • KVM
  • Yellow/Red Gem NPC
  • Restricted item PVP
  • PVE Improvement (here: http://forums.warppo...vement-project/) we got Juperos turnins, but we've still got Dragons and not much else has really happened.

 

The community also has long lists of things they'd like to see you guys also do as well but as you said, there's only three of you and you cant do it all.

 

As for Ecclesios post I agreed with pretty much all of it, one thing that stood out to me was the talk of Witch Pumpkin Hat. That thing is so far ahead of almost all the other hats for PVM just because of how cost efficient it is. It's a pretty hefty investment for new players. If you added something on the last Janeway step that was a suitable placeholder at the cost of efficiency it'd be neat. Something like the Sons of Kobold Hood which increases the effectiveness of Red/Yellow potions, you could also make it amplify Novice Reds by quite a bit allowing the one resource you've funneled into them last a little longer as they quickly become worthless.

Through a combination of hearing other peoples ideas and plain old guessing, here is my list of things that might be good for the server. Keep in mind that this list is ONLY for Classic, not for Renewal.

 

(in no particular order)

1. Reset server but keep all recent changes. This may cause some rage but I think that the amount of people who want a fresh start is greater.

 

2. Change Kafra shop to have nothing but cosmetic items and maybe a couple of other things. The only way to speed up leveling would be by signing up for VIP.

 

3. Possibly disable Trans but this one probably needs further discussion.

 

4. Restricted item PvP

 

5. Adjust monster spawns so that Turn in quests always have at least 2 choices of map to find targets on.

 

 

If some of these sound farfetched, do not look at me! I am mostly only repeating what I have seen others bring up. :p_laugh:

Why not just make the quest permanent and add some way to collect wrapped mask gifts? There's a chance to receive alarm mask from those I believe. Seems better than making a whole new item. :v

i'm not opposed to that, but new players are given a very limited amount of novice potions...that's the issue here. that's why i suggested buffing the heal rate of apples (or other fruit items) or meats, because those can be purchased as well from an npc

 

and veterans can buy thousands upon thousands of pumpkins that are light to spam en masse in pvm for essentially no zeny.

 

i'm also not opposed to adding the witch pumpkin hat quest in and adding a way to get wrapped masks, but the issue here is new players have to be able to do it. also, i'm not familiar with the drop rate of alarm masks from the wrapped mask item. is it really practical to be asking new players to be farming 15-30 wrapped masks if they're going to be difficult for them to require?

I'm not opposed to buffing the fruits and stuff, but they will still have to find them, thus a generic quick and easy fix is to buff the novice pots for them. I dont think there is time to be spared on niggling over the rates of fruits, it's like an emergency.

I think it's entirely reasonable to look at buffing items like carrots and novice potions. We don't want them to overshadow orange potions for example, but giving more potions and giving a ~25% healing buff would definitely be possible.

Pretty much this, when it was left in for a long time it became the go to item for PvM. Most regular players have purchased one due to how effective it is. Taking it away would be a pretty big blow, but if you choose to embrace it you can implement a similar hat for a different fruit or vegetable or use lower % modifiers for other items. I'm sure there's plenty of people who would pay you some money for a different cosmetic hat for another healing item if it was equally as strong.

 

I actually tried to run through the Crusader job change last night as a proper Janeway character and boy was I never going to make it through the gauntlet without some help. I have also provided some healing items to a couple of other new players who were having the same issues. Novice Reds just scale so poorly after you get out of your 30s, which was fine when they were first added, but here they're expected to carry you into your 60s with Janeway. A hat that boosted Novice Red and another random fruit or vegetable that was awarded at the 50-60 quest range (which is about when you start to run out) would be a pretty good move imo. It doesnt have to be as strong as Pumpkins, but actually seeing your health move when potting is nice.

 

You could always toy with the healing to zeny to weight ratios to make something suitable for newer players while making it something that they would eventually outgrow as they move on to other consumables.

 

I get that you dont want to create items that make other healing items obsolete but we're already at that point and any new players are barely going to be able to spring for an inventory of anything more than red potions the way everything is set up right now.

The sons of kobold hood boosted slim red potions from that quest they could re-use the hat and redo the descreption and toss it into a janway mid level kill count like 30-40

Regarding WoE:

 

Valhalla and I had a discussion today and we concluded that the disablement of god items (even temporarily) without the disablement of MVP cards would be remarkably unfair.

The best way forward would be to disable both.

 

HOWEVER: We then noted that there are a huge amount of Miniboss cards that both gods/mvp cards counter. So that would be a bit silly.

 

But if you disable miniboss cards, it's all about rapid reload asura from over-econned castles and the remains of challenge dungeon yggs. Which would provide no chance for startups/incoming players.

 

Not recommending any particular course of action, but that is Valhalla's sentiment on it.

please don't reset the server thanks, there are people who wouldn't get their junk back in a week (relatively speaking, not even getting into god items) and it'd be a huge hassle for some of us slower progression folks. it only comes up once in a while, but please, please, don't.

 

the advertising though, that i can get behind!

You don't need to worry, they wont reset the server. The server would not be able to handle all the people that would come back to play if they did.

This is interesting, it may attract new players who want an environment where they will all have fair chance, then when they are stronger they can join the established server. But I don't think they have the resources and time to manage another new server. pRO special server is another matter as it's player base and revenue are guaranteed but a completely new server parallel to Classic would be too much to handle.
