You do realize ragial is run by bots, right?

Yeah, and they're GM-approved. Do you really think they're going to approve of bots scouting MVPs? Or PVP? And don't pull the "well if they let Ragial do it..." because that's been screamed over and over again. Yes, there are exceptions to the rules. No, it doesn't mean they'll allow it for every little thing.

honestly i wouldn't mind a ragial like feature that shows the current number of players in pvp/bg.  That'd be pretty nifty to have.

I'm sure it would be, but chances are it'll never happen. Something like Ragial is honestly a necessity... no one is going to go through every single vend in the hopes of finding something they're looking for, and it's downright stupid for them to expect people to use those Kafra shop items to do it.

I'll tell you how it works. It's the same as ragial, buff bots and warp bots. People just start doing it, and later on GMs decide "It's not really hurting anything" and say it's allowed. Let's say someone starts leaving a bot in the pvp waiting room that notifies it's owner of who enters. Nobody notices it, it just looks like an afk character, so nobody pays it any mind. Then someone decides to share that information with others, and eventually everyone is using it. six months later someone finally asks about it on the forums, and the same way people are talking about the current app, people are going to say, "Well it's been like this forever now and everyone uses it." Then the GMs see that people like it and they let it stay.

That's how these things work. I'm just being real.

/in before I am accused again being a troll or combative just because I disagree with you.

Other than Ragial, I haven't seen any other bots be ok-d. And like I said, something like Ragial which provides a service which should be offered by default, is a lot different from your PVP/MVP/whatever scouting bots which would be quality of life additions at best.

But honestly, I've seen people go down this road with you already, I'm just going to opt out now lol

Ragial improves the in-game market which helps both the seller and the buyer and in turn improves the players' quality of game. A bot that notifies players about the status of PvP/BG doesn't sound too bad either, only because it's dead and needs to be revived, and such a bot may promote such features. An MvP bot will never be approved because MvPing is already super competitive, and this will just kill the sport. Also, I don't agree with allowing buff bots and warp bots because these just cheat an already in game feature. If you need a full heal, use the inn, and if you want to warp, go use Kafra or the airship, and if you want more features pay for VIP instead of installing a bot.

Finally! You have saved the Android race. Only Apple users have been hogging this functionality for x years. But c'mon, Apple just sucks, and I will not use it just for Ragial.

Your staph infection aside, that's the same thing botters like to say. "Bots have been around since the beginning of RO, if you don't like it just don't download the bot program!"

It gives some people an unfair advantage, just like bots do. You can rationalize it by pointing out that it has been around a while all you want, but that doesn't change the facts.

off topic:

Dude, you made my day.  I laugh so hard.

I think it's a good idea.

I like the design as well, would be curious to try it out if my own smart phone wasn't a piece of crap.

It is an unfair advantage, but it is like how Ragial itself is. However, you do know that people already have stuff setup to scan Ragial automatically right? This once again levels the playing field for those not dedicated enough to develop something.

Keep perfecting it buddy, development never ends :D

There's in-game vend catalogs that only cost 200 zeny each.

Even the catalogues are a poor choice. They don't work well :(

That just proves the developers can implement an official in-game Ragial. They just don't want to.

Ah I didn't even know those existed. Even then, I still think having something like Ragial is sooo much more efficient...

Well its finally out on the Google Play Store. I've posted the link on the first post.

On the matter of it bogging down ragial servers, I believe the app won't have much of a drain on their servers.

Even at the highest settings of refreshing/checking ragial.com, it will only do so once every hour. This is 15 to 20 times more than the the ordinary refresh time of Ragials own internal database, which is updated once every 3~4 minutes.

Consider an ordinary user who does not use this app. He/she will probably refresh through every item that they want every 3-4 mins.

In just one hour, that amounts to 15 - 20 calls on ragial.com per item that they want to check.

This app forces a minimum interval of 1 hour, so one ragial.com call per item in that 1 hour period. This is far better for ragial.com servers than manual refreshing and checking every few minutes.

Ambur, what's the name of the app on iOS that you are referring to?

Pls staph. Apple has had an app forever. If you don't like it, don't use it... just like that one.

Thank you for developing this app. Although I use an iPhone, I always had an Android before and might go back soon to Android.

Awesome app dude. I can't tell if there is a way to set it to search the classic server, is there an option for that or the possibility of it being added?

I've never tested it with the classic server. However, I believe it should not take too many modifications. Ill put this on my todo list for now. :D

I've just uploaded a new version of the apk. It now supports Renewal, Classic and Thor servers. Thor is experimental, but Classic is working fine. Renewal is working as it was before.

It should roll out in a couple of hours. :D

Out of curiosity, which pages do you request and what information do you need?

Well, the first request depends on which server you want really

1) It can be any on of the following :

"http://ragial.com/search/iRO-Renewal/" + item_name -> Used for Renewal

"http://ragial.com/search/iRO-Classic/" + item_name -> Used for Classic

"http://ragial.com/search/iRO-Thor/" + item_name -> Used for Thor

2) Now the parser will download that entire page and select the items link which is one of the tags inside the above 3 links.

Eg for Renewal : "a[href*=ragial.com/item/iRO-Renewal]"

It will extract this link from the above site it downloaded. It doesn't need to use another network connection to ragial.com

3) It makes the second call to ragial.com to obtain all the vender information. Since the name is encoded, I have no choice but to make another ragial.com request.

Eg for Renewal Strawberry item : http://ragial.com/item/iRO-Renewal/HbXm5a42iFgr

This is the second call onto ragial.com that is needed.

4) It then parses that site to obtain all the vender information as well as calculates if it is on sale.

The data model is quite simple :

Name of the item, short/long range - no of items, min price, max price, avg price, standard deviation and the confidence value (unused for now) [ My algorithm only takes the vender price, min price, avg price and standard deviation into account, I have no idea what confidence is even doing there in ragial.com items :P ]

Each item has the above data stored in a temp database for quick access and also the following Vender info

Vender Name, store name, item count (eg, how many strawberries he has), price for each item and its standard deviation.

Then my algorithm runs over these vend prices to see if any item is on sale.

O.O Sorry for making things overcomplicated >.<

Simple version :

2 requests to ragial.com per item

Everything else - Let my app handle it :P
