Back in classic I played a high ASPD crit SinX. Decided to remake this character today but have no idea what the best equips are anymore. Sapha set is intriguing but that means missing out on damage reduction garments and temporals. If you guys could help me with the ideal gear I should shop for I'd really appreciate it. I'll be using katars, don't really want to go the DD route.
I'll try, but with a question as broad as "what are the ideal equips?", it is very hard to answer since we don't know level/budget/etc.
Anyway, the best all purpose weapon as of now is the Thanatos katar cuz of it's very high atk. It's ideal for leveling, and very useful for RC killing MVPs (cuz again, very high attack). If you want to crit then a chakram + cuffs combo is better (especially with some Aunoe or AK cards).
As for armor, the sapha set is good if you're completely broke and/or have nothing to go with. It's only good for critting early on tho, and if you want to level, then you're going to be using RC and not single-target killing. That means the sapha set isn't good. The sapha armor (sapha cloth) is very good, as you can enchant it with str/luck/sharp/crit bonuses, and it is slotted (not to mention a freebie +3 luck and chance to auto proc meteor strike).
I'd suggest the following early to mid gear, assuming you can have a hundred mil or so to spend.
HBP+9
Variant shoes
Sapha cloth with some enchants + porcellio or elemental card of your hoice
Thanatos katar at 120, before that it's up to you (inverse scale or wild beast claw are cheap and strong)
Rideword hat +9
rogue's treasure accessorry, RWC ring, bako tattoo, or even just whatever that adds atk/hit/aspd
Otherwise you know the usual stuff, black devil mask + pirate's knife/gangster scarf/blahblhablah.
When leveling the goal is to maximize atk via flat atk and % atk to kill mobs with RC. When killing mvps you can either RC or crit, and that's when things change a bit. And of course, it goes without saying that if you have hundreds of millions of Z to spend then everything changes. Anyway, hope this was vaguely useful.
