Question: Is the monthly (or bimonthly/quarterly) participation prize supposed to be a secret until it's awarded to the participants for having their submissions cycled or the authorities just haven't made up their minds yet as to what really are in store for the gen screenloader contributors?

I believe the prize is a secret. Astra seems to be on top of the prizes she wants to give out for the general loading screens.

The OP has been updated with a new prize section detailing the rules of prize distribution and selection! Please read them over, I have also put them here for ease of access~

 

 

PRIZES

• Prizes will change once every quarter. 
  That means there will be one prize each for the periods of January-March, April-June, July-September, and October-December, a total of 4 different prizes. Each prize will be introduced at the beginning of its quarter. This is the "Core 4"
• Prize distribution will remain on a monthly basis, based on the month the art was submitted.
  For example, if you submit in March but aren't displayed until April, you will get the prize for March.
• Only one prize will be awarded to each artist per month.
  Yes, this means you can potentially get the same prize 3 times. However...
• We will keep the Creative Convention Hats as alternative prizes.
  If you still like the Creative Convention Hats from last year, it will be offered as an optional prize for you instead of the Core 4. Just let me know

Core Prize for January - March

 

Costume Yoyo Hat!
This lovely little hat features a cute Yoyo sitting on your head. It even has a cute red butt from the back view!
 

 

 

If you submit during January, February, or March, this is your prize!

You also have the option of choosing from a Blue, Red, Green, or Orange Creative Convention Hat (pictured below), just like last year, if you don't want the Costume Yoyo Hat.

 

 

 

If you previously submitted to this thread specifying a Creative Convention Hat but decided you changed your mind, please feel free to go back and edit it with the prize you want, I will allow these edits up til the end of the month. Any submission not specifying a prize will receive the Costume Yoyo Hat by default

 

I will be adding in previously skipped 2016 load screens as well as the current batch of 2017 load screen submissions to the game during next Thursday's maintenance, January 26, and will have all January prizes distributed by February 1.

Very good question! Yes, the Costume: Yoyo Hat will be account-bound. As for the Convention Hats that weren't account bound, I can talk to Campitor about making them so, since I understand this was a concern for many people.

it's probably better to stay the way they are. Even though some people sell off the prizes, I know people use them as gifts or trade them around to friends or characters on different accounts. Making it account bounded really limits that especially after years of them not being bounded. Personally, I have two accounts bounded same hats on the same account and it's kind of just taking up storage. Even thought about NPCing it to make room :/. I initially got the same one because I thought they were tradeable and I wanted to give it to a friend but I'm unable to do so.
