Not only is my client totally vanilla, I still play with effects on and (mostly) stock BGMs that aren't muted.
Sometimes I feel like I'm some kind of freak.

I think QoL edits are okay, I think ones that let you cheat mechanics are not. I like to think of them as add ons much like WoW has :X
Being able to change your cursor color should be something that is added to the game. Things like that would help a ton of people and as for the WoW thing, even people there take addons to far. lol

i guess the real question is, if some of these QoL edits are acceptable, why arent they made more readily available to the general public? since way back i have noticed that trying to edit anything in RO locally can be a pain in research and dealing with gibberish named files. something as simple as editing your aura involves dealing with unmanageable filenames and stuff from what i remember, we really need an iROwiki page dedicated to making these as friendly as possible so everyone has access to the accepted edits, because lets face it, the initiative doesnt seem like it will come from high up.
most of what these edits do, should be options available ingame, and the way most ro skills work it is almost impossible to properly tell which tiles are affected, even for stuff that seems clear as day, like sanctuary tiles, you can be healed while being outside the shiny tiles.

Because they are allowed, but not supported. It isn't very hard to learn how to do some simple edits yourself if you choose to.

kro would probably get iro into deep -_- if they were to publicly tell people how to modify grfs...since kro doesnt believe anyone can open grfs yet somehow

I used to see only big TT Rangers in WoE and few +14 KVM suras. Now I see everyone big in WoE because they all run with +14 KVM/+15 KVM and equipped with Gods and MvPs lol

well... according to CM Astra's post, its technically not against the rules as its merely a graphical edit.

as long as you dont present it to children, go on

Absolutely, I had a classmate who made some of the real big time addons for WoW, some that are still popular to use til this day... and they really screw up the game for most due to the competitive edge they gave for things :X

It's like the CC formula, they know it, but they can't say it because kRO are pretty secluded in their development and asset process. They need a wakeup call but EH.

kRO logic suggests that it is hard for people to Google the information. 10/train.

GMs please add /effect2 with minimal AoE effects (minimal SG, LOV, MS, Magnificat, Angelus, Gloria & more)

there's some edits I think warpportal should adopt, for example
and then there's some edits that are flat out gross but purely cosmetic such as
Some that provide an advantage that the staff *think* are purely cosmetic
And then there's cosmetic edits that provide a distinct advantage
As a player people have to kind of "guess" if things are okay (note the rules thread still says nothing about MP hack despite that being a client edit in the same category as zoom hack) And some (in that third list) should be all or none since they DO provide an advantage.
RCX is kinda like that too. It's taken me months of getting that stupid program to finally work (I had to replace my dinput.dll for anyone that is interested and it was a fresh install so wtf?) and it causes fps drops and it's ugly and it doesn't look "ROish" but I have to use it because I need to know where gutterlines are to command my guild effectively and well everyone else has that information because their third party program worked fine!

gross

There is an official method for showing gutterlines.
I don't see why they shouldn't. RCX provides a bigger advantage than greyworld.

RCX is BS too imo

Unfair advantage mods shouldn't ever be allowed. But mods that don't give advantages, people only pretend to care if it's someone they're beefing with

I think the GM team should define "advantage", because that is a really loose term. (e.g: improving visibility of debuff on a target could be seen as an advantage?)
