Not getting 99int as a wizard hurts my soul, my pre-renewal high wiz had 186 int / 152 dex fully geared with bless, +10 foods, and Battle Chant (I'm still actually running the 99int/99dex/25luk build on him lel)

 

I've always been a firewall mage myself but love how many options and playstyles this class has to offer.

Not only is there no fixed cast time but they did not increase variable cast time to make up for it.

That is true and false. Ice Wall seems to be disabled in dungeons only. Meaning that you wont be able to use it while hunting Maya for example, but you will be able to use it vs Orc Hero.

 

Thanks for the clarification, I added it to the Ice Wall build.

 

If I may say something about the skill builds.

My go to build is:

No firewall.
Maxed safety wall.
Maxed firebolt.
5 cold bolt.
Either maxed or 5 frost diver.
Optional stone curse.
Whatevers left to unlock wiz skills.

Great, I love your build! I added it to the first post. I might follow it too, but I'll sure go for a maxed out LoV and drop SW because... biases.

Petrify 10 and Safety Wall 10 are obrigatory in WoE builds?

It used to be stone curse 6 (no red gem req when fail) and safety wall 7 was where you stopped at as additional levels only increased number of hits and safety wall is used almost entirely for stopping gfist/penua blocking in PvP environments.  I think every level reduces cast speed now tho.  I think safety wall is invaluable on a wiz/sage you wish to PvP with tho.

Agi could be useful in a few months since if you're with a good enough bard, Stings can get you spells down to aspd delay.

Got a quick question about armor. I noticed slotted Mantles were left out. Any reason? Compared to mink coats, it is lighter and has 37 DEF. I'm just asking because it's 3 DEF less than formal suit but significantly at cheaper vendors because everyone is farming wolves (30k to 50k)
I've checked and mage/wizard can use it per the db

Coat [1] can be a better option. It's way cheaper than formal suit, but has higher DEF (42)

I will just go 99 int, 80 dex(total 90 with ramen hat+class bonus), 53 vit, others remain at 1(0 point left at 99)

I can't tolerate slow casting speed. Frost Nova is a super useful defensive skills, It's fast and spamable. Don't know why most wizard builds don't include that.

It doesn't seem as though it makes much of a difference.. but what're everyone's thoughts on the mage card set and its bonuses?

I think we should update the guide a little bit on the equipment section since we've been getting a lot of new items useful for mages like robo eyes, soul staff and skull cap.

Also since skull cap has a slot, which card should I put in it? From what I've seen the best is tower keeper card (+1 int, -5% cast time) but its really rare/expensive so what other alternatives are there? Is elder willow good or should I get something else?

 

btw speaking of elder willow card, maybe we should add it as a budget headgear option (compounded in a slotted hat or another cheap headgear). It may not be the best but for ~50k its pretty good.

My points:

I play mostly MvP, maybe in the future WoE, I don't know.... not that competitive, but you'll never know....

Most of the time I'm solo, so I use a lot of firewall.

Don't see LoV doing that much damage, rather focus on MS.

 

I know it's a personal choice, but can I really forget icewall? quagmire is better? should I forget about firewall also? MS must be at lvl10? Any other thoughs about the build?

 

i messed the buid 2 times already, don't want to restart with a new char again... thanks a lot!

Suggestion for your leveling section:

 

2 north of Geffen is a much better place to level until 25. There are more Mandragoras, and you can hunt Hornets in between those. 

 

I tried your suggestion and got frustrated with the map and lack of things to kill.
