So since the token changes was announced I wanted to address some concerns we've seen and explain whats going on.
 
First Changes Happening to Merry Badger
 
Merry Badger is being updated.

• Removals and Edits
  • Weekly Special Leaves
  • Badges will now require 4  EMB for 10 Badges (KVM, Valor, Bravery)
  • Medium Life Potion Exchange Leaves
  • Life Insurance Leaves
  • Token of Siegfried Leaves
  • Job Battle Manual Leaves
  • Job Battle Manual Boxing Service Leaves
• Additions
  • Battle Manual Buff, 5 Badges
  • Job Battle Manual Buff, 5 Badges
  • Bubble Gum Buff, 5 Badges
  • HE Battle Manual Buff, 10 Badges
  • HE Bubble Gum Buff, 10 Badges
  • 3X Battle Manual Buff, 20 Badges
  • Miracle Elixir Buff, 5 Badges
  • Yggdrasil Leaf, 1 Badge
  • Wing of Beelzebub 1 Week Rental, 5 Badges
  • Halter Lead 1 Week Rental, 5 Badges
  • Blue Herbs x 20 , 5 Badges

Please note that most of the new rewards are buffs, rental items from Merry Badger will start immediately upon receiving the item.
 
VIP Services is being updated

• Once per 20 hrs VIP Characters above level 50 will be able to claim 10 VIP Tokens of Siegfried from the VIP services npc
  • Claimed tokens will last 24 Hrs and then disappear if not used.
  • This is on a per character basis
• Once per 20 hrs Mini VIP Characters above level 50 will be able to claim 10 VIP Tokens of Siegfried from the VIP services npc
  • Claimed tokens will last 9 Hrs and then disappear if not used.
  • This is on a per character basis

Kafra Stacker is being updated

• Kafra Stacker will no longer be able to stack Tokens of Siegfried

Now to answer some question concerns.

• Where will we get tokens now?
  • VIP Services will offer Tokens of Siegfried to VIP and Mini VIP users
• Are tokens being removed from the game?
  • No
• Are magic stones being removed from Merry Badger?
  • No
• Is the Faceworm Exchange going away?
  • No
• Are you changing the binding status of Tokens of Siegfried?
  • No
• Why are you doing this?
  • The vast majority of the population uses tokens in a normal fashion. That is to recover from a mistake or issue that occurs while adventuring. Unfortunately the was a handful of users who were consuming tokens like I would consume donuts. This was creating a very large imbalance in the way tokens were being generated and consumed. Our goal with these changes is to provide the normal user (You) with the same normal level of Token usage without feeding the problem habits. 
• Are you willing to tweak rewards and exchanges based on feedback?
  • Yes, after we have tried the new system to the table for a week.

Soup edit: Merry Badger has been disabled since before the announcement was made (Wednesday Evening server time), and will remain disabled until maint is over (Thursday Evening server time).

 

 

Further Edits:

• We found that we have an event version of the Token of Siegfried to use for Merry Badger. Due to this Kafra Stacker will still be able to stack Kafra Shop versions of Tokens of Siegfried.
• Discussions topics for reviewing these changes in March
  • ​Character binding VIP Tokens of Siegfried
  • Removing the character level requirement (Much more friendly to new players and characters) (Requires Character Binding)
  • Removing Weight from VIP Tokens of Siegfried (Requires Character Binding)
  • Increasing the Duration of Mini VIP Tokens of Siegfried to 16-24 hrs (Requires Character Binding)

The issue with this is that the FEW people who abuse tokens have already stockpiled a bunch up. This is not going to "fix" the matter and only punishes those non-VIP people who didn't stockpile tokens. For those people you are making a pay-to-win situation that reflects poorly on your company.

 

Edit: I have VIP, but I know plenty of ppl who don't who want to use tokens in a normal fashion, yet can't afford to buy WPE.

Mini VIP can be gotten for free with Eden Merit Badges(Magical Stones). Technically tokens will be cheaper on a per badge basis but there is now a rate and item lifespan limit

I just gonna say... by this point sounds like WP Staff is forcing us to buy items with IRL money

I thought this game it was Free To Play and the WP it was just a way from the player to do a "DONATION" to the server, not a requeriment to be and enjoy the game.

Why are you punishing the free to play players?
Why the item expire? if sometimes you success the instance without die, you can save up these tokens for next day tomorrow or the following days in the week

Why don't you just make them 10 tokens limit on inventory or storge? without "expire time" just.. 10 tokens on your inventory or storge

They will function 100% the same except for the item life span.

Concerned with the timer of the buffs, can you increase the time for HE BBG? 15 minutes is too short, just scale it with the badges being used or much better give us the option to have the buff for 15/30 min / 1 hour and just scale it with the badge requirement

Just to clarify, "mini" VIP is the one you gain from Gramps? So that means 8 EMB for temp VIP and then 10 tokens (8 EMB = 10 Tokens).

 

I mean, it's not horrible, but you guys really needs to work on your PR. This might have been better received if you didn't just yank out Merry Badger and say "no more token exchange" without posting this knowledge.

Mostly due to EMB inflation. That part of the script hadn't been updated in 7 years. We have a lot more sources of EMBs.

i agree with KrystalKnight.. as i can see, this wont "fix" the excessive use of tokens,

why not..

 

- limit players to carry only 3 (or so) tokens, to prevent abuse

Currently that isn't possible. But we are requesting versions of these manual that will be character bound. The manual will have a use it or lost it 24 hr timer

I believe the Mini VIP lasts 3 days (it has been years since I looked at that timer) as well so it would be 8 EMB = 30 Tokens.

I think that's actually a really good way to solve things.

 

Since I can't get Job Manuals anymore (RIP f2p BSG dream), might buy mini vip every now and then.

At the same time  , supporters cant prepare Tokens for the party anymore ?

Mini VIP can be purchased for 3 days at a time at a cost of 8 Eden Merit Badges (Converted into magical stones).
