Better Support for Free-to-Play Players and Class Balance
Overall, there’s a clear need for improved free-to-play content and quality-of-life features. Free-to-play players are already starting to leave the server due to the widening gap between them and whales.and newbeis are rare on this days If this trend continues, whales will eventually follow—after all, much of the appeal of spending money in-game is to stand out. Without a vibrant free-to-play base, that value diminishes.
Suggestions to Support Free-to-Play Players:
-
Introduce More Rewarding Systems: Consider adding items like “OCP Remains,” which could drop from Gramps-level monsters (150+). Players could trade 5 of these for 1 OCP token. Is this too much? naaaah—right now, in-game items are prohibitively expensive for the free-to-play community.
-
Enable Autoloot for Everyone: At a minimum, this would make farming more practical. Given the sheer number of bot accounts on the server, autoloot shouldn’t pose an additional balance issue, In facts some item will drop in price due to now being "easier" to get
-
Confirmation for Refine Processes: Include a refine history or a confirmation window when Blacksmith Blessings are active but not applied properly. This would prevent costly and frustrating accidents.
Ensure Balanced Support Across All Classes:
The current meta heavily favors magic and swordman classes >>particularly Mages<< making the game feel like a Mage/Swordman simulator. Other classes are often neglected and underpowered. For example, Elemental Masters can currently reach the damage cap with each hit of Psychic Wave, while many other classes struggle to remain competitive.
RO features 18 unique class, yet class-specific gear distribution is highly uneven. A structured, fairer system could help:
-
Introduce Monthly or Bi-Monthly Class Cycles: Each cycle could focus on one or two class groups. For example, one cycle could spotlight Expanded classes (7 total jobs), while another could focus on Acolytes or other core branches.
-
Release Exclusive Gear During These Periods: Introduce powerful, overseas/Kachua-style equipment relevant to the featured classes. To maintain variety, include secondary items that benefit other classes as well.
-
Prioritize Meaningful Additions: Avoid recycling low-impact gear. Instead, aim for items comparable in power and utility to Fenrir Staff, Abydos, Awakened Old King gear, Royal Capes, and Ancient Shoes >>> but designed for less supported classes.
-
Address Current Gaps: Consider dedicating a month to releasing high-tier weapons and gear for underrepresented classes like Biolo, Meister, Inquisitor, and Cardinal, rather than further empowering already dominant classes.
This approach would restore class balance, promote build diversity, and maintain long-term player engagement. It would also create a predictable, transparent roadmap for gear and content development throughout the year.
Maybe I’m just thinking out loud here, but I believe it’s something worth considering.
I Could keep going and going with stuff but who knows if this will be at leas read it
