Hi! I'm trying to build a Gale Storm that can transition to Hawk Rush.
I would appreciate your opinions and suggestions regarding which items are worth it for both build. Thank you!

Sorry, I can't help with your build. I just actually base my build on recommendations here. But I can say is, hmm, wait for the updates and equips for 4th job skills of WH idk. I use FAS build right now.

With all the new equips flooding the server now, it's hard to keep up with ideal or better builds. Anyone of you updated their gears lately?

I have, but the cost of it is on the pricier side (which is expected at the gear I showcased in the earlier post). I'll bold the new items I switched in.

 

With the new Kachua Tickets lowering the price of Full Penetration Shadow Gear, I picked up +10 Full Pene Earring+Pendant so I could also switch out PDM for Overdrive Rampage [Void Mimic Card] and that netted a nice damage boost with +10 Full Power Shadow Armor+Shoes and +10 Physical Power Shadow Weapon+Shield. I switched out my Little Garden for Smiling Eyes [went with Melted Poring Card since non-MVP card are lacking for damage output] since it's just straight better than it... but have not tested it against Ancient Morroc Jewelry [Marduk Card] though. I also have a Screaming Ghost Party that I think will be better than Assault Suit, but am waiting for a refine event before trying for the necessary +13 buffs.

 

There are the new Thanatos Shooter helm/weapon combo that I think are better than Virgo/Sharp Star combo, but with no refine event I don't think the cost will be worth the relatively meager upgrade. Could be proven wrong later I suppose, haha.

I'd read up on Nagaame's build notes for better facts but my gut opinion without digging too deep would be:

1. Assault Suit for Gale Storm, Alpha Beast for Hawk Rush.
2. Mystery Wing for survivability (and probably damage?), Arabian for more Crit (if needed).
3. Ring of Artemis x2 for Gale Storm (if you have DEF penetration elsewhere), PDM+Silver Claw for general DEF bypass (good on on any WH build with LUK).

 

There are better items and combos out there but I assume you were so specific because this is what you have currently, yeah?

For that I am swapping in Wolf Officer's Hat, casting No Limits, then swapping back to Virgo. The swap does not cancel Wolf's 150s CD it offers!

 

Also, I probably won't be testing it for a while but new FAS-boosting gear dropped with the ep18 release: Thanatos Shooter Helm+Bow. Sounds like it might be better when boosted up but my DPS is already plenty and I don't want to spend another 4b (current Shooter Helm price) to test. Especially since you can get a Virgo so cheap now... it's just the Cecil enchant that is still pricey or time consuming to get

Thanks man. I sold my soul and bought the shadow equips for now, plus the smiling eyes. I'll buy melted poring card when I have zeny again lol. I said to myself that I won't upgrade my equips until they have one for 4th job skills. But, here I am. Those shadows are an investment right now.   

For the ancient morocc, I tested and yes, it sucks when you only have marduk. I have proven what they said on discord that Ancient Morocc [Pharaoh] > Smiling Eyes > Ancient Morocc [Marduk]

I envy your setup. With your gears, I guess you can damage at least 70~80m right? or higher? I have different setup 'coz I don't have budget anymore lol, I don't have my screenshot right now but what I'm using is still +14 Awakened Royal Bow, +14 [PF] Old Camouflage Hood+Record of Archer Vol.1 & 2 combo, +10 [ANT] Assault Suit, +9 [Galensis] Yoichi, Dreaming Red Sheep, and +13 Kenzen of Hate (I don't have FWQ right now, planning on this as well.

Oh wow, hey! Small world, haha. Literally since there's not really anywhere else to level 240+   I only grind when my Cardi + Tro friends are online and force me too, but maybe I'll see you in there again next time!

 

Yeah, I just found out the hard way (see my irowiki Discord help-with-builds recent post) that Ancient Morroc Jewelry is worse without Pharaoh. Another stat reset later and I'm back to basically the stat build I was using before and back on Smiling Eyes. I also just tried another Purple Ferus Card in them (to see if 3% boosted it even 1mil) and... it doesn't... so Melted Poring might just be nice for the extra HP. However, you said you were saving up for FWQ, but you could instead run the Abysmal Merman+Abysmal King Dramoh Card set for the 15% Crit damage boost! AKD Card in Smiling Eyes will only net you the -5% HP but it is needed for the combo. It might be worth putting it in your Old Camo Bunny instead as the Crit Damage is actually better than FWQ by 2%, but you lose out on all the bonus Crit Rate.

 

The Shadows are an absolute amazing investment, and thankfully affordable thanks to the Kachua tickets! Full Pene Shadows open up so many options for accessories and I love that you're running Record of Archers as (if you look back in this thread) I tried so hard to make them viable before Full Pene, haha. Please update this thread with pictures of your damage tests for other players to see more options than mine.

 

***UPDATE: I decided to use the spend rewards BSBs to make my Screaming Ghost Party +13 and it netted anoter 10m boost***

 

Currently, with my current set, I am netting 190m (with ele-weakness arrows) and 143m (against medium+large dummies) per FAS:

While it is a little annoying to create and enchant (damn account bound Gray Shards) the Thanatos Shooter Helm-LT and Thanatos Bow-AD, it netted me a HUGE damage boost... I think 30+m more damage from testing before I created and upgraded them. What's wild is that I haven't even Graded them yet and still are giving so much damage over Biolab Virgo+Sharp Star! My Shooter Helm has Acute & Gray Shooter enchants Lv.3 and my Thana-AD Bow has No-Size-Penalty & Crit Damage +6% enchants.

 

Here is what I am currently built out with at Base 244:

 

While I could stand to find more ACD reduction, it's plenty for my casual play style as I'm not running any hard mode instances so that's a future me problem

Time to post a gear update since last month since one of the items nets a significant boost for the FAS build!

 

The new Royal Prontera Cape is a beast and increases FAS's output by a huge margin so that's the main change here. The downside is that, like probably all the upcoming best gear, it's a Level 2 Armor that needs Grading as well... until there's a more reliable way to get BSBs and huge amounts of Ether Dusts outside of selling your soul, it's not a newbie friendly option. Yoichi is much more affordable and is plenty good for PvM content (per my past posts), but I thought I'd share my only-one-cheap-MVP-carded build for those that are like me and want to min-max their Wind Hawk.

 

I also switched around my costume enchants to Ranger Stone (Upper), Ranger Stone (Lower), and Ranger Stone II (Garment) [always with Sniper Stone (Middle)] as it netted better damage than my GX II/AX Upper enchants since I don't have GX Lower yet.

 

Here's the new numbers at Base Level 245:

 

That's a 55m+ damage upgrade from Yoichi (in perfect conditions versus a Dummy with Elemental Weakness). I am hitting the Large Size Dummy for around 190m, which is about 55m increase as well. 

 

Still can squeeze a bit more damage out when I finally Grade my Helm+Bow but the cost isn't worth it right now to me. Also, I'm using a bunch of EXP gear when leveling so don't mind the card in my Smiling Eyes (need it for a combo). Still not sure what non-MVP card is best so probably gonna still with Melted Poring because Hard Mode Villa made me realize how squishy Wind Hawks are, haha.

I have a few questions. I'm a returning player (130-ish) with an FAS-centered build, but I'm also super broke (< 5m) so I'd like to ask, are there some things I need to prioritize?

 

I'm currently equipping a +0 Autumn Headband, the Imperial equipment set and an Elven Bow, and while it's nice, it probably won't last as I level up.

Above equipments cost approx 50-150m each. Litte Garden or Seraphim coronet is next mid headgear which costs 200-400m.

 

(For the shoes, i still recommend by sticking to the +9 imperial/grace shoe for that -0.5 sec fct)

Thank you for this! Some of these are super expensive (or maybe they're just overpriced, I can't tell) but at least it's something to work on.
