There is an issue going around where players get a disconnect message every time they login, and they cannot play their characters.

 

This is the cause of the permanent disconnect bug. I also just reported this via support ticket.

 

When a user reaches 4th job, there is a chance their character will get stuck in a state where they constantly revert their level upon relogging or changing maps.

 

In this case, I reached level 226, but then every time I relogged, I went back to level 225. This happens to the job level as well. Despite going down a level, if you spent the stat points you got from leveling up, they stay allocated and you can get infinite stat points.

 

However, if you get an extra skill point and spend this, then next time you relog or change maps, you will be in permanent disconnect mode. Every time you login, you will disconnect, because you have too many skill points spent for your current (reverted) job level.

 

 

1. Character begins reverting EXP/base level/job level every time they change maps or logout. 

2. If the user spends the extra stat points they got from leveling above their reverted level, the stat points stay allocated even after reverting back to a lower level.

3. If the user spends a single skill point from the extra job level they obtained, they will permanently disconnect from the game on every login and be unable to play. This is because they have too many skill points spent for their current job level.

 

Please reset all stat and skill points for any 4th job character. People will then be able to play their characters. I don't know what the cause of the level reversion is, but this may fix that as well, and will allow people to play their characters, trade their items, etc.

 

0:04: I show stat and skill point menus at level 226.

0:18: After logging back in, I'm level 225, but my stat points have not changed despite leveling down.

0:28: I show that I lost the skill point I gained because my job level went down.

He's right. I can confirm this WAS 10000% without a doubt the issue. My Shadow Cross was lvling and at lvl 214 I logged off. Came back was back at 213 with 96%. Everytime I lvld I gained the stat points and logged off, came back and the stats stayed. I did this for bit thinking it would be fixed in like a few days or an emergency maint. It wasn't. Though the one time I put in 1 skill point into the new job skills. That was it. Character has been perma locked for 4 weeks. I'm positive that anyone who has lvl reverting, IF you put a SINGLE point into the new skills as 4th job, you WILL be perma locked. And maybe, JUST maybe if Warp portal resets all our stats somehow we could at the very least recover our chars. The issue still might persist, but at the very least we'll all know what to look out for.

I think it's caused by the server slowness, not replicating real time. It's the same situation in instances where monsters would disappear and come back after re-login. You may be able to avoid it by going through a portal that will give you the loading screen, not Character Select.

So my AB also hit the infinite talent points lotto when converting to 4th job. I now have a bunch of extra talent points, but yeah they should really take it upon themselves to troubleshoot their own game instead of leaving it up to players.

 

Edit: Now that I've thought about it. I wondered if items associated with the bugged characters are impacted as well? What would stop someone from trading a bunch of high value items to their non non-bugged character and relogged? Will the items magically reappears on the bugged character given the roll back?

You're doing God's work. I assumed the disconnecting was something avoidable because my friends didn't get it like I did but I wasn't brave enough to sacrifice another character to figure it out.

FYI halloween costume effects are in effect. Good for newbies. Same with skelion pets that are in effect and staffs never had a chance to disable since last year kek.

This is my ticket update from WarpPortal support. Basically, they don't want to make any changes until they find the root cause of the rollback/level reversion issue. They would be able to fix characters and allow them to login by resetting their skills, but they don't want to do anything until they find out why the level thing is happening first. It could cause more problems or just repeat itself, so they don't want to do it.

 

And, because there are "many issues" that need to be fixed, it may take some time before they get to and fix this specific problem...

 

So... it might be a while...

Hmm. Seems like a strange move? They may be able to fix players by giving all those currently stuck by resetting our stats but choose not to. I get it. It'd be a band-aid fix. True. But I'm pretty sure this server PRIDES itself on it's band-aid fixes. So why stop now?

The only issue I see is people knowing this and going to abuse the infinite talent points, but there are already people doing that right now... and people have already had their characters locked for weeks. There's no ETA on when any of our characters will be playable, especially since they acknowledge that there are a "number of issues" that need addressing, and the issues may be different for EACH server. I agree that having infinite points is a problem, but priority needs to be given to anything that will allow people to play the game. If it's easier, do a fix to prevent infinite talent points and then let people play. Do something. There needs to be a huge sense of urgency here to get this resolved as soon as possible.

 

It's not a good solution when people have already been out of the game for too long, and when people spent money on those characters. Even if they don't know the root cause of the level reversion issue, it should be a pretty high priority so people can start playing again. Take down the servers and do a maintenance or something, speed things along. I understand it's a technical issue, but it's already been multiple weeks and it hasn't been addressed. This is not a reasonable timeframe for addressing such a critical issue, leaving paying customers unable to play the game.

 

So much for coming back and enjoying fourth job I guess...

Indeed. Like many others, my main has been locked for about 5 weeks now. No end in sight. If they won't return our characters out of fear of abuse at the very least we should be able to inquire about gaining the equipment from them. I have many valuable OCP/upgraded equipment currently on my character. If they could just strip them off said characters and put them in the kafra storage then at least we could use those items on new characters/existing ones. Those who have been stuck for this long on our main characters basically completely missed out on the entire exp event. I doubt those of us who are stuck are receiving any special compensation and at this point----whatever. But the gears guys, please find a way to return them or give em back to us? Otherwise I can't help but feel I was robbed.

i dunno if its just me but while lvlng the effect of wooden warrior disappears and i had to relog everytime for it to work and my pet also disappears but when i get back in town i have it back.

In addition, when in Prontera, pet may show 0 at hungry level, saw some rumor that the pet will be gone due to no feeding. 

 

so players may want to be aware of that too.
