Much of it likely has to be due to the issue of users splitting up. Claims become a larger issue than they should be.

There really should be a house, for those who are married. And if they divorce the house gets split half and half for each user! That'd be nice, haha. Be like, "wife/girlfriend stays in kitchen making food for the hubby/boyfriend while he sits on the couch all day," luls.

Well, I suppose is similar to the runescape mining/woodcutting/fishing system, when you "lvl up" in one skill, you can use better tools to do your work.

Mining:
Lvl 1: Pickaxe
Lvl 10: drill?

I don't know but sounds logical

I think it's more so you choose to specialize in one for full efficiency. I'm only guessing but I recall that it's more of a "Skill level in Profession 1" vs. "Skill level in Profession 2." I could be entirely wrong though, because I don't think you really can choose more than one Profession per character.

i.e. It'd be a waste of time to do anything but one profession. You have four to choose from but there's two stages beyond that which include Manufacturing the products from the first stage (your Profession) and and Production--making something happen with that manufactured stuff. For Production you'll need items from other Professions so it's best to collaborate.
