But could you please explain more the:

Refining to 11, through 15 upon failure will only degrade 1.

You mean refining 11-15?
And it means that without Plutorune it will degrade 1(no break), and with Plutorune it just wont degrade at all?

Think about it.. with only Pluturone the item never degrades. So you just keep pressing the button until you have your (15).
