when you see bots in leveling spots please report them.

Seriously it will cause the whole group of them to get blocked, and it only takes 1 report. I know reporting is annoying, but it is literally impossible for us to patrol every map at all frequently. I wish we did have the staff to make the patrolling the regular thing rather than the "when time allows" thing, but that is why reporting feature exists.

I would, but the ones I did report are still around almost a month later, that doesn't do much to encourage me to keep reporting.

My problem is that I sometimes can't really tell if it's a bot or not, to be true.
Today I faced two characters that could've been bots by their acting, but their names were just to... not-bottish... o.o
If I report with screenshot and ticket, I wanna be sure that I don't frame an innocent player.

I loved the euRO system here to be able to pm bothunters ingame. You could pm them the informations right away and (if they happened to be there, what was often the case) they could come to the map immideatly and checked if it's really a bot or not - simple story.
It was effective and a safe way.

Oh, come on, they're only getting a week or month of ban if it's 1st timers. If you see the same bot after a while again, report it again and then this time they will be permabanned.

Why not to try talking with a character when you're not sure? Try both common chat and PM, and if person not even stopping for a second to reply or to just read it, you can go ahead and report that you suspecting it's a bot, and list the reasons why you think so. It's not really a framing in this case. Also can try to drop some of the particular loot that he farms there and see the reaction.

If they are botting they should be perma-banned, first offense or not. Gravity is way to lenient on exploiters and botters. Other MMO's have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to exploits and especially third party programs and hacks. A slap on the wrist for a botter is like a slap on the face to every legitimate player.

Well, I would personally send boters straight to hell, but there is no point in talking about how it should or should not be, it is how it is. It just sounded like you're surprised seeing the same bot after a while, so I wanted to specify that you could've send him into a perma ban this time -_- I'm fully supporting a zero tolerance policy towards them, but nothing much we can do about it. Though some MMO's I played not perma banning any kinds of offenders even on their 10th offense, so yeah, could be worse.

The thing is the chances of me catching them botting again is low. To be clear I'm not talking about the average valk gold farmers here. I'm talking about Ymir's player bots that bot for levels and loot. Even if they got a temp ban when they come back they have a high level character with which they put in no effort, they then take extra precautions when they bot again, and it's harder to catch them. If they botted a character to 100 I really don't think an inventory wipe or temp ban is gonna stop em from doing it again. They were gang botting a TI with 4 accounts and were doing it well after I reported them, so I was quite dismayed when I saw them pass me in town the other day.

There really isn't an issue of framing a player, if you see a player acting strangely in some cases it is better to not contact them (many bots will alert their afk masters or log out when PM'd) and just report them. The worst case is that a player gets checked out by GM and responds like a person. It may give them pause if they think about botting in the future, and the GM is out a few minutes of time. Our players are pretty perceptive when it comes to recognizing aberrant behaviour in other characters, so the percentage of normal players reported as possible bots is pretty low.
