Costume Tab = Yay
Costume Items = Boo

But there are a few questions lingering in my mind. Obviously this is only a test since it's on Sakray.

How close to Sakray is the final going to be?

Can we get an HQ perspective if any changes can be made to the Costume system if these are the only items that will release with the Costume Shop.

the 7day/30day/perm coupon to change a headgear into a Costume Item, I think would be a great idea addition to the Kafra Shop. It would make any stats or cards compounded void but would not remove them. After the 7 or 30 day duration that costume item would return as a normal headgear with stats and card in effect unless made a permanent costume item.

It would allow players to actually enjoy the costume system and still create revenue for HQ. I'd go as far as saying it would definitely create a lot more revenue compared to the first release Costume Items from what I've seen

Players shouldn't hate just yet. It's Sakray for a reason.

Even though I kinda hate you for you off topicness.

That does kinda suck balls.....

Also if we could get a gm to explain to us if this is how its going to be or not. If we are getting a converter? if we are stuck buying whatever from kafra shop? etc etc. Since we all want to kill in sakray now for uselessness.

Yeah I really wish a GM would reply to this topic.

I fear that if they don't implement some kind of coupon that allows us to turn our useless gears into "costume" gears, or they continue releasing really ugly costume gear, then this once promising feature will just become another unused waste of space. *coughpartyfindersystemcough*

I would love an NPC that checks your headgears and do a costume copy of it. This could be charbound with 0 weight or account bound. The original would becoming the same/Account bound as well and to free it (for selling it for example) you have to "pay" the custom version for it. So that Headgears can't be multiplied easilly.
...sounds like more work than just allowing headgears in custom tab though... q.q

The only thing that disappoints me about costumes and such is that they'll just be one more way for characters to become more over-powered. If they were purely cosmetic, and didn't have any type of stats on them, I wouldn't find it so objectionable.

Moreso than skills, I've always found the equipment in this game to be the ultimate cause of OP characters. Cards and gear and stat bonuses... all those things add up and stack on each other to make characters who are many times stronger than players without access to such things. That's one of the main driving forces behind complaints of "this skill is over-powered, please nerf it GMs". It's not the skill itself. Consider, for example, the difference between a a rune knight wearing variants and tao gunka and using dragon breath, and a rune knight who only has, say... a peco peco card and diabolus boots. The first RK will obviously have a much much stronger dragon breath power.

So, what I'd like to see is one of two things: Either make OP gear have more diminishing returns as it gets stronger OR raise the power of regular gear much more so that more players can come closer to the OP-geared players.

Alternatively, the coded formula of the skill itself could be designed to give diminishing returns past a certain point. Let's go back to the Dragon Breath RK as an example. Say for instance, past 65K HP, any additional HP counts for half the value when giving more damage. So now, the Tao Gunka player will still maintain an advantage in this case, but it won't be the enormous, outsized advantage that it was before.

Again, that's just one idea.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everyone should be equal, but I am saying that the disparity could use a bit of narrowing, rather than the continual widening it undergoes every year.

For an analogy, think of how players had a much more difficult grind during prerenewal, to reach certain levels. And then, once renewal hit, it became much easier for newer players to "catch up", so to speak, with the people who were playing the game longer, and the older players were still able to maintain an advantage; the advantage merely narrowed a bit. So I do think that the people who've played longer should have an advantage, I just don't think it should be as large as it is...

One possible way of trying to remedy this would be offering more legacy items in events and possibly kafra shop, and that includes ride hat, slotted sunnies, and so on. Perhaps these items can be slightly less powerful than the legacy items, so that older players won't feel shafted, or have the cynical attitude of "everything is pay-to-win", as the bought items will be slightly inferior to the real deal, thus letting older players retain at least somewhat of an advantage.

@Dreimdal - I only read your first two sentences cause you kinda went off on a tangent there :Emo_18:

The currently Costume items available do not carry anything special besides appearance. What we want is the same thing, but with normal headgears. Not more stats and more cards added to our current equips, but the freedom to wear the items we want without the horribleness that comes with powerful type headgears. Take for example the Feather Beret, a good Demi-Human headgear, some may personally not like the appearance. They would much rather wear say a Kitsune Mask or Golden Bell that has no stats as a Costume Item

We were just able to get this working very very recently, so we haven't had a lot of time to be testing. I don't know about kRO's plans for expanding the system but I think it's pretty unanimous that people want more gear than just the existing ones to be able to be put in the costume slot. More testing and seeing how the system works will be necessary to put together a proposal to make this more useful.

This combined with Beyond's purchase ticket.

A NPC that uses a Kafra Ticket(much like dye tickets)and some zeny (I recommend 500k for zeny sink)
and creates an account bound costume version of the item.

I wondering if the socket enchanting scripts could form the basis for a new conversion to costume script?
Meh, I could be delusional...

But yeah current costume selection is poopy and GMs would really be missing out on some money without a
kafra service to make super cute in-game gear costume-able. Just tell KRO that this idea tested well
with focus groups...or whatever stuff corporations like to hear.

That is not true at all. That is the problem. Our voices fall upon deaf ears.

We want the CURRENT, EXISTING ONES in our costume slot.

Our Valkyrie Helm. Our Helm of Solar God. Our GARGANTUAN Magestic Goat. Our Neko Mimi. Our Striped Hat. Our Boys Cap. Our Corsair.

Welp there goes any enthusiasm I had for this patch.

That is not true at all. That is the problem. Our voices fall upon deaf ears.

Our Valkyrie Helm. Our Helm of Solar God. Our GARGANTUAN Magestic Goat. Our Neko Mimi. Our Striped Hat. Our Boys Cap. Our Corsair.

This. THIS is our problem. This what we were led to believe the costume tab could do for us.

I don't think the HQ team said anything to us to lead to believe what we thought. They gave us a little information and we as the community let our imaginations wander outer control hoping something that was not. Now our dream of a perfect Costume System shattered. This however could have easily been avoided with HQ if they intervened and not let it get so chaotic.

But there is another way to look at it. Now HQ knows what we want we want to see in-game and hopefully Oda/Heim/whoever and the Dev Team can work a proposal through to kRO or maybe even find a way to work around with not involving kRO in the matter.

It was the wrong way of doing things, but hopefully something will get done and maybe we'll see a better Costume System out of it.

That's what I was thinking.
Why would they just let us get our hopes up about it when they can plainly read what we are saying, and then not step in and say "well, actually it's more like this.."

I think it was probably an unintentional mistake on the GMs part. If I had to guess at what happened, they were probably given a shoddy description of what the feature offered and assumed it offered more customization than it really does. It wouldn't be the first time an update took even the GMs by surprise.

The images on the newsletter associated with the feature were likely just substituted to fill in space. I'm sure they didn't intend to mislead anyone.
