Simple yet profound question. Why do you continue to play RO? Do you have several friends in the game? Are you a 'vested' player that has so much experience, gear, zenny, and characters? Are you here for the WoE? the PvP? the lulz?
I thought I had quit for the last time back in 2008. I originally only came back this year to check it out after hearing that it was free-to-play and easier leveling. Then I got rehooked and bought VIP a month after playing it free. HAven't gone without VIP since (about the past 5 months). I don't usually spend much on Kafra Points, but every once in a while, I splurge on a little something. Most of the money I throw at this game goes into VIP.

I have not WoE'd at all since coming back this year, but I did WoE in previous years of playing, in pre-renewal. The most fun I had in WoE was back in 2005, as a level 80-something non-trans knight. Ran around with a small-time guild, but we had fun, even if we only rarely ever got a castle.

1. When did you start playing?
Autumn 2004

2. How long have you been playing? I feel this is vastly different than your start date.
By server-
Chaos: Autumn 2004-Spring 2006 (took many short breaks though, especially between winter 2005-summer 2005)
Iris: December 2007-August/September 2008
Valkyrie: September 2008 Only played that server for a month (I made a level 70 FS priest)
Ymir: June 2011-...

So, one can see that I've quit a few times previously.

(I did pop onto Ymir very briefly in May of 2010. less than a week. It doesn't really count. Since I played all of 7 hours or so.)

My evaluation of my times spent on each server: Chaos was great. Ymir is pretty good too. Iris and Valk were so-so. Valk at the time was crap since teleport had a huge sp cost and there were a bunch of other penalties too, like Kafra warp costs, if I recall correctly.

3. How 'vested" are you? How well equipped, financially sound are you in game?
Below average. Whenever I get a nice chunk of zeny, I usually blow it on some niche item (and often one that gets nerfed shortly afterwards haha), like the +7 St Patties Hat and Spare Card that I bought a couple months ago. They were devalued in a month, but meh, that's how the genre works. And just recently, I laid down a little chunk of zeny for a +9 Morocc Incarnation hat. Putting aside my impulse buys, I usually borrow gears from the accounts of friends who no longer play. They have garments, armors, hats, weapons for nearly every situation and map (surprising lack of shoes though). Kind of gives me an excuse to not take the time to gear my own accounts properly, heh.

The most zeny I ever had at one time was like, a quarter billion, I think? Right now though, something like 15 million, X-D

My highest leveled character is greater than 130, but less than 150, and that's about as specific as I'll be. :P

4. What server are you on?
Ymir.

5. Are you VIP?
Yes.

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left?
Because as crappy as this game is at times, it's still one of the most enjoyable in the MMORPG genre. I guess that's kind of a condemnation of the whole MMORPG genre, isn't it? Haha.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?
There's no one single problem, and even when there is a "biggest problem" it changes periodically. For example, the biggest problem with prerenewal was finding people to party with if you weren't in a guild or if you were the wrong class. Actually, that still holds pretty true even now... now that I think about it. The "wrong" classes still get shafted.

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game?
The community. I have met so many cool people in this game, especially in previous years, but even this year I've met a lot of nice folks.

At times though, the community is also the worst part. (So many D-Bags within the game)

Are you here for the WoE? the PvP? the lulz? If you answer I would request you tell us a little about yourself, like....

1. When did you start playing?
2 year ago if i remember it correctly. ;)

2. How long have you been playing? I feel this is vastly different than your start date.
I only played for nothing less than a year. Yes, just several months. Why? because the first ever server I played shut down and i can't find a nice server like that. Plus, i have to start all over again :P

3. How 'vested" are you? How well equipped, financially sound are you in game?
I've played for quite some months but i still consider myself a noob :thumb: I'm more like a pet collector and an effective HP. Financially sound? not really but I can't that say I'm poor too. =w= My equips are good enough i guess? most of my good equips are gifts and i farmed the left. haha

4. What server are you on?
I'm not from here. I've been from different midrate private servers. I don't play anymore though.

5. Are you VIP?
Nope.

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left?
Though I'm not playing anymore, I still want to play RO. Maybe you could call it keeping in touch? After all, this is my first love game.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?
Well, after the renewal I guess. I can't really determine though. Half of my RO gaming life is before the renewal and then months later there was this big renewal and stuff which made my old server crash a lot. Players need to do the update and since not all can't keep up they moved out until the server slowly died :P

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game?
The players and the gameplay ofc. It's so fun being in a community like RO. I've made lots of friends when loitering around the town or hunting/farming. Nothing beats the gaming experience of RO for me even though I've played several games after this.

1. When did you start playing?
2008

2. How long have you been playing? I feel this is vastly different than your start date.
2008 - Now

3. How 'vested" are you? How well equipped, financially sound are you in game?
Poor =(

4. What server are you on?
Ymir

5. Are you VIP?
Yes

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left?
WoE. And close people/friends in guild.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?
There's no clear development plan. It seems like...there are a bunch of things that can be implemented...and rather than doing one of them really well, we get a buggy sprinkle of them all. And the fact that EVERYTHING good comes through the Kafra Shop is just plain stupid.

My guild was so freaking active pre-renewal and we were all 99. Now...they're all 150 and I rarely see 1/4 of them. Nothing to do. Market is shot. Everything's a joke.

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game?
WoE (prerenewal). And the friends I've made here. Renewal is just a wannabe.

1. When did you start playing?
2006. I was a highschool sophomore. A friend got me into it ;)

2. How long have you been playing? I feel this is vastly different than your start date.
Off and on. I dunno how many hours I have spent at the key board / reading / learning about ro.
I play more now after high school, where I can balance college and free time :P

3. How 'vested" are you? How well equipped, financially sound are you in game?
beats me, just enough to level things and play effectively but nothing beyond that Q_Q

4. What server are you on?
ymriygvlakg

5. Are you VIP?
ya

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left?
dunno really, i like the community

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?
What sucks is the easy bake oven hand outs to all the butthurted, if your class sucks make a different one.
if you don't have the time or the patience for it then why play

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game?
making a new char, stacking it with top gear and leveling the ____ out of it lol.

1. 2004 ~ 2006? I no longer have the account, so I'm not sure exactly. Current main account dates to 2007.
2. As a non-free-trial player, since 2007.
3. Best non-god item gears for my main character. Access to weaker god items. Not wealthy, but have enough to buy what I want/need.
4. Loki -> Chaos -> Ymir
5. If I still played, I would be.
6. Post count and babes.
7. Renewal. Forum censorship instead of simply moderation. Also a few character flaws.
8. Me.

1. 2004.

2.around 6-7 years?

3. 8/10, Not much liquid zeny, since I usually invest in something.

4.Valkyrie

5.Only when I play the "how many 150's in a week" game. My record so far is 2 :P

6.To me it's like a violent version of facebook, without the wall updates I don't care about. A good majority of my friends have played RO, and usually come by to chat once in awhile. I haven't left because I started at a young age, and it really grew on me.

7. Lack of control over content, community, you can blame a lot of things. I mostly blame kRO for their inability to get the dollar sign out of their heads.

8. Community, WoE, kawaii headgears. Gotta love em headgearss.

1. When did you start playing?
Around 2004 or 2005 when it was exported to Brazil and Level Up Games was sending free discs for those signing up.
But I actually played in a private server(now nearly dead) called Deliverance Online.

2. How long have you been playing? I feel this is vastly different than your start date.
Probably around 4 years. Counting with RO2 - The Gates of The World, 5 years.

3. How 'vested" are you? How well equipped, financially sound are you in game?
I'm a lv109 Failure Sura with messed skills, bankrupt with Eden Gears, some good cards and Variant Shoes. :P

4. What server are you on?
Valkyrie, I almost went to another server when I joined before F2P.

5. Are you VIP?
Nope.

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left?
-The game is good itself, with a great potential, but with bad management.
(I'm not directing this towards the iRO team, just towards the fact kRO needs to approve everything.)
-I met the best people around RO, in both official or private servers.
-During easter I got robbed, I wouldn't come back if it wasn't for Spirit Draconis and a friend called Aelune.
-Playing RO is the most fun way to improve and learn other languages. I learned spanish by playing.
-I always feel nostalgic.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?
-Renewal, it messed up with the nice balance this game had. Fights are too fast nowadays.
There's no need for playing skills as before you could even fight someone 15 levels above yours.
-This games doesn't require a fast connection, but you still lag even with 10 MB/S.

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game?
-Norse mythology and the community, with some exceptions, though.
-The feeling of accomplishment no other game I played offers, but it's dying, though.
