When I was in high school, so not long after the game left beta. My close friend recommended me.

2. How long have you been playing? I feel this is vastly different than your start date.

I've taken a few breaks, my longest was probably about two years or so while I was in college. I've been playing, actually playing, for many years though. I was most active probably two to three years ago, and that was also when I enjoyed myself the most.

3. How 'vested" are you? How well equipped, financially sound are you in game?

I'm pretty well of, or at least I was until +9 became the new +7. I'm not totally elite, but I have a Bryn and a good amount of zeny to my name. I just have not kept up, so by today's standards I'm probably just decent but that's enough for me.

4. What server are you on?

Ymir, originally from Loki.

5. Are you VIP?

Not at the moment since I'm not actively playing, but if I was I would be VIP.

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left?

I'm here because I like the game, at least fundamentally. I keep coming back because other games don't really satisfy me and Ragnarok used to. I'm hoping it will get back to the point where I can enjoy it again.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?

Everything is too easy now and there's too much focus on getting as strong as possible as fast as possible. There's no sense of accomplishment anymore.

Nostalgia and being able to play it with old friends.

5 years then quit for like a year and came back.

At least all +7 gears (LOL excluding Variants of course) and a dozen 10+s and a crapload of +9s. I'm financially stable atm and can buy anything that's over 500m. I possess 7 9+ or higher Glorious weapons, Ghostring armor, Arc Angeling, and Angeling.

Yggdrasil and Ymir.

5. Are you VIP?
Yes.

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left?
Friends and guildies. My "girl" friends, cute headgears and sprites, and the knack for killing people in WoE.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?
GMs doing rushed jobs thinking it's better for the community. Also the reset option for Turn-ins. It's completely unnecessary in my opinion... This makes everything I've accomplished in leveling worthless since I can get level 150s in less than a week if I try.

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game?
War of Emperium. I cannot see a better mass PvP mode than this.

Summer before Senior year of High School. Was procrastinating from doing some summer homework I had to do for my Humanities (college level) class, like reading The Iliad and Guns, Germs and Steel and writing papers on them. Whoohoo.

The economy. Even some of the 'hardest' MVPs in the game are easy as cake now and their drops are worth junk. Not to mention the fact that all the +7 certs and stuff have made it near impossible to sell stuff...

For me, it's running Hide & Seek. I have a lot of fun with it. =D

Friends, even though most left. Making new friends, helping out the new/return players in the game. Tbh, I dunno, I think I can safely say I've beat the game countless times and have few things left to do.

Realistically, I just use RO as an escape from the real world. I actually like the grind and the false sense of achievement from doing things here.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?

The people that play this are mostly lazy pieces of sh!t looking for instant gratification. The game became too easy with no really sense of challenge or team play unless I'm forcing it.

The timelessness of the game. The gms that are actually trying hard to keep the game interesting but fail due to them being push overs catering to all the instant gratification crowd.

i dont keep playing U,U i just ragequit my guild, the only thing i did the last year... was farming kvm and woe, thats all, actually im in a retro experience, playing residen evil 3, super smash melee, final fantasy christal chronicals etc, megaman X and donkey kong 2 in my ds and Ngc.................. at this point all my time invested doenst worth it anymore, I REALLY, REALLY, BUT REALLY LIKE how the balance patch its getting........ but until it hits valk....

Turn Ins

Extremely brief answer: Lack of fun and challenging cooperative content.

Slightly longer version: Class balance and class roles are gone, monsters are pinatas, the xp cutoff bans fighting strong stuff requiring parties, play focuses on spamming uberskills instead of strategic play, and Gravity has given up on the things like instances and BGs. All of this combines to result in a massive lack of fun and challenging coop content.

Slow movement away from actually PLAYING the game to PAYING your way up.

-turn ins make people lazy and don't teach you to use your character whatsoever. just teaches you how to mash 1-2 buttons and when to turn on your x3 manuals for a free 2 1/2 levels all the way up to 140 where it has a huge drop off to 1 level per 15 minutes.

Everything is too easy now and there's too much focus on getting as strong as possible as fast as possible. There's no sense of accomplishment anymore.

-Hmm...I'd say maybe half of that time. So like 3 yrs. I would play for a couple months, then take a couple months break, rinse and repeat. I think the longest I've been away is a year in a row.

-I'm definitely not one of the richest (I have never even been close to a billion zeny at one time), but I feel I have become well geared over the years. I'm happy with where I am.

-Ymir. My original server was Chaos.

-Yes. I like supporting the game I love.

-The community mostly. I have so many friends on here, and I have never played an MMO where people just hung around in the towns and talked. I really like that social aspect of it.
I also think the sprites are super adorable. Love all the cute headgears, and the interesting character design.
And it was the first MMO I really got into. So it will always have that special place in my heart.

-Class balance.
It seems like the classes can never been completely balanced. Or when they get close to being balanced, the game goes through an overhaul and ruins it again.

Always played weaker classes with rare builds, so Ive never considered myself rich, then again I never set that as my goal, and just got together zeny for the next interesting toy xD

Nope. While Ive been suggesting this for years before theyve actually got around implementing it, I frankly don't see the point of having it in the current state of the game.
All there is to do is rush to 150 and get onehitted in woe, with nothing to do after you get there. Id get it if I was planning a more ro-serious month or such, but last time I played ro seriously enough to count as that, was like 4 years ago.

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left?
RO is unique and special.
Don't get this the wrong way, this is in no way the result of anything done to it in the past 5 years, the original people working on it came up with great stuff. After trans they thought it was dying and just started pushing badly thought through updates on it, but turns out people still play regardless of the devs caring less and less about the game with time.
Which shows just again how much potential RO has. It could be really awesome if it had been improved properly over the past years instead of just being kept alive for the business.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?
No end-game, severe imbalance on multiple stages, updates take ages regardless of them being new content or badly needed fixes/improvements.

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game?
-Its always been the content (BGMs, maps, monsters and class sprites)
-but also the huge class tree and
-being able to choose what kind of build you want yourself, like playign a class as melee thats meant for support etc.

First one is the only part that's still good quality with updates, the classes just felt more and more rushed from trans on and the last one got kinda hurt by renewal.

6.- As stated above, I am addicted. I've tried to quit, but this game reminds me too much of the favorites of my youth (Tales of Phantasia/Terranigma/Zelda) except much bigger and diverse.
7.- Lack of content/fixes/balance that will please everybody. Impossible things, really. People have to make do, and they naturally don't like it.
8.- The sense of community, the pretty graphics, the choice of classes and builds, and my personal favorite, the story/quests.

Hmm...almost everything about the new balance patch sounds horrible to me. And the game was more fun pre-Renewal. So kRO I guess.

2d sprites...wish they'd keep this for RO2 (if thats ever actually being released)
Upgrade system is fantastic...though some of the thrill has been dashed by Upgrade Certs/HD Ores =/ And raising the max to +20 feels like they jumped the shark.

First thing I always do with a new class is buy the best stuff I can or work towards it. Now I'm fairly strapped, but broke. Thank you safe certs and Enriched Hammer...not.

It's always been the focus on communication between characters, to make it social, even if leveling is boring now. Secondly, the art style.

6. Why are you here, what keeps you coming back, why haven't you left? Basically RO has been my favorite game ever since. I keep coming back cause I love PVP/WoE action. No PVP/WoE action = no me in RO. But I am always tempted to leave due to renewal being bad compared to pre-renewal; but I don't really have a choice since RO is my first e-game love. I am leaving though once Star Wars Old Republic is released and I get a good computer.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game? Balance - Some classes have skills that break the game; MVPs are 2ez. Economy - Bots destroy the rarity/importance of items/skills, events make items less worthy (the safe to 7 stuff makes buying expensive gears not worth it), and some people have great advantage that makes newbies groan. Bots - Bots everywhere. Zeny farmers, players who want to level without doing anything, supply farmers (cough cough hello alligators), and for other reasons (buffing, etc). Players - Old Player mentality summed in a sentence: "Can't keep up? Then quit." Which is wrong. It's like the old players don't want newbies to play at all.

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game? PVP/WoE. Let's face it, PVM in RO is as fun as studying. As you can see, almost 80% of the server base their actions towards WoE/PVP. Hunting MVPs for cards/gears, making potions for supplies, and vending for zeny which is used for gears are examples.

Heck if I can remember. It was back when Gravity ran the servers directly, and the game was technically in Beta testing. This was before 2nd classes. Actually, I remember them implementing the flee penalty shortly after I joined (there were a ton of thieves dodge tanking everything).

On and off since forever. This turn around, started playing in July. It's my first time dealing renewal mechanics, so a lot of stuff was new to me.

I guess I have a worth of maybe 700-800million in equipment and zeny right now? I ended up making a ton of money on the Spooky machine (I power leveled 18 characters during the 2x exp event). I don't normally spend real money on this game, but I did purchase the original sub for Ymir access, and then an extra 10 dollars after Thanksgiving as a self-gift. Got nothing good from the lucky boxes/groove packs, though (serves me right). I made most of my money farming drops with my Royal Guard and a Triple Poring Hat.

I have friends who play, and they dragged me back in. They're just terrible at this game, so now I'm funding them. I like it because it's free to play, and I still find it fun. I can't do subscription MMOs, because I never feel like I'm getting my money's worth. I haven't left because I really have no reason to leave. As much as people think the game keeps getting worse, I think that's because they never knew how bad it was before Warpportal took over.

7. As concisely as possible, what is the largest problem with this game?
It's so hard to meet people and establish relationships. Setting up parties is cumbersome, most guilds are phantoms. I wish the "share exp" level range was wider, and I wish there was an "open party" option so people can just hop onto parties. I'm kind of shy, but I love talking to people, making friends, gush over parts of the game, rant over other parts, sloppy makeouts, etc. There's just very few ways to meet up with people and have more than a passing association with them.

8. As concisely as possible, what is the best part of this game?
Again, it's the people. I've played a lot of MMOs, but for some reason, RO players are like the nicest people ever (despite what the forums may indicate). I think it's because RO is a low stress game. People are friendly and helpful when they're not being ambivalent.

I used to play on iRO Chaos and then jRO. I took a long (5+ year) hiatus due to real life commitments before coming back to Ymir for a bit. And then I started from scratch on Valkyrie about a year ago.

Several billion in liquid zeny, bryn/asprika and lots of assets, own or have access to everything I'll ever need.

Because my friends are still playing. And I'm a competitive person who wants to accomplish big things (e.g. complete my own god item set) before I quit. I also think that RO is an amazing game and despite what has happened to it lately, I'm hoping that it'll turn around.

Rampant botting and zeny selling, the way that it's become so pay2win, easy 150s, easy MVPs, easy everything.

The player interaction - meeting new people and making friends here.

I like skill based games and this game challenges me. Doesn't matter what gear you have. The better player usually comes out on top.

About the only thing that annoys me is when the GM's make changes without notice to important things. I also hate when a few people whine about something on the forums and the GM's give into them at the expense of the larger population in the game. Example: reset stone timer, +9 kvm fist, Green Ales, ect....

The characters/classes make the game. So many unique play styles. So many unique equips. I am also fond of pvp/woe.
