And that sounds like an awesome idea. I dunno, ZINJA. The fact is, the rewards you want to offer are things that are only good for PVP. Yet you want to get people who don't like pvp to DO PVP. Why would stuff that is only good for the stuff they don't like make them want to do it more? It wouldn't. Stuff like 2x exp and 2x drops, things that are good outside of WoE, THAT is the key to getting these people to join in.

Look, if I put myself in the shoes of most of these people, say I don't like WoE. Stuff that makes me better at killing people and better at WoE in general isn't going to make me wanna do it more, because I don't like it to begin with. Just because I am good at it, doesn't mean I'm going to like it more. I was told back in school that I was amazing writer by all my teachers BUT I HATE WRITING. Just cause I'm good at it, doesn't mean I like it.

1. WOE IS NOT PVP period. i like woe more than i like pvp.
2. WOE is a large group activity which involving teamwork , coordination among many other things.
3. To be part of this group in this day and time the bar has been raised higher given the advancement levels and gears of existing players.
4. If i were not at a significant stage in terms of skill,level,gears , i would hate to be the weak link and join a group where i would not be useful.
5. the only way i could some evening out in gears is with kvm/bg gears which in woe matter more than high + monster drop gears in most situations.
6. we have stuff like 2x drops and 2xexp already , there make no sense to have something from a different source when you are already getting it.
7. The key here is trying to understand why they wont join in the first place.
8. if you are going to get pummeled/steam rolled over and over again , do you think that is fun?
9. i feel bg/kvms are a base to build on as incentives for participation more can be given to cover other aspects of attractive incentives.

The basic idea is it should not be too tardy,insignificant or fall extremely short of expectation and usefulness. remember whats useful for the well established woe players is not whats useful for the people who are starting at it. This topic aims at those people , i.e casual players and not necessarily newbie players

No, you dint like it the first place because you couldn't and you will like it because you can.

Just because I am good at it, doesn't mean I'm going to like it more.

tell that to the ardent woe fans. most people like doing things they are good at.

Point is rewarding them with stuff to improve their standing improves competition.
it serves as an incentive like what Eden merit badges are for leveling.
It serves as a consolation price . I am pretty sure many unsportsmanlike players here never even heard of the term "consolation price" .

sure i have been in guilds that got castles most of the time, but i do want the guilds who didn't get any to not feel discouraged and come up better next time to give better fights and competition .

I dont give a damn,how many god items/mvp cards my opponent has as long as i have within reasonable ability to tackle him with skill, coordination, planing and a basic level of survivability .

Would I rather take part in WoE for BG gears/KVM gears or would I rather have Bellum gear?

Hmm.

(seriously am I the only person that actually considered that in this whole discussion? That the whole concept of bg/kvm is redundant when the new woe hits, which is likely soon?)

Pretty sure anyone with a brain noticed this, that's why there isn't such a big push from most players to keep adding kvm badges. They'll be outdated soon!

This is why I haven't bothered turning in eden badges for KvM badges :angry:

But that's the point, Battlegrounds and KVM are going to be completely useless because all of the rewards from it (I.E. PVP equipment) is about to become INFERIOR to something that DROPS FROM A MONSTER without having to spend your entire life getting enough badges to afford a single piece. And, before you ask, no, they can't realistically update the battlegrounds gears to be better than these new monsters drops, because the monster drops already sound so broken they're going to completely unbalance WoE and PVP as it is. There is a topic with translations of all the gears and effects in the fungineers board under Zr0's translations if you're interested.

As for Zinja, for the castle rewards, they would obviously have to stack with any existing event to be worth it during those times, but to have a 2x drop event that you can actually CONTROL (by taking a specific castle in WoE) would be pretty awesome, I think. WoE or pvp, you're missing the entire point. MOST people don't WoE not just because they're gonna get killed all the time or don't have the right gears for it. Most people don't WoE simply because they do not like any sort of player vs. player combat whatsoever. Teams, organization, they don't care. Fighting other players is fighting other players to many people who play online games, and if those people wanted to play games where they fought other people, they'd probably go play a shooter or something. There's teams and organization and all that other stuff in those too. There's also lots of other MMORPGs with a far larger focus on player combat than RO. Lots of people come to RO specifically because they don't like that kind of thing, they just wanna relax and chat. The incentives to get those people to WoE have to be something outside of the ENTIRE player vs. player aspect, regardless of whether it's WoE or PVP. There is a reason that some guilds specifically list themselves as non-WoE or MVP PVM only and these players are it. Offering them better gear for player vs. player regardless of whether it's a team environment or FFA isn't likely to entice them.

I don't even bother with any of them, I would prefer semi-PVM prizes D:

80% of the battlegrounds gears deserved updates since Renewal came. [That 300% damage against everything non demi-human? LAME]

I wish iRO could edit all the gear sets to make them match each other, and no include overpowered stuff like "make gfist instant cast and double damage at the same time". And any problem, make one of the BG sets good for MVP instead of pvp.

As much as I enjoy the "omg they drop from monsters after paying 70m to a npc", they are not only better than current options. They totally transform all the other options to crap.

I find out funny how sometimes kRO fails so badly at balancing the game. First, they nerf clashing spiral, then add a 2000 weight spear with 20 seconds cooldown on bio4 update.
