HOW TO START IN INTERNATIONAL RAGNAROK ONLINE (Non-VIP)
Hello everyone!
I will try to play the game in iRO Thor with a Non-VIP status and without using dual-client. I already have a Blacksmith Level 84 (just doing Daily Parcel Quest these past weeks). Blacksmiths have the quest skill Greed (when used, you automatically pick up all items within 2 cells around you - very helpful in Gramp's Turn-In Events wherein you can collect items that you can sell to players and NPC). I will be updating this guide based on my experience in-game and whenever I have time.
I hope this guide will help newbies and returning players with no zeny and equipments to start with.
I. Starting as a Novice
Spoiler
Criatura Academy
You will start at a ship in Izlude docks. I suggest that you read through the story line of the game to make it enjoyable. iDaehyun's post for the New Izlude Tutorial will help you acquire necessary items for your adventure. You will end up with at least Base Level 8 and Job Level 10.

You can go to Eden Group by talking to this NPC.
Eden Teleport Officer.gif 2.27KB 1 downloads This NPC can be seen in all towns, inside Criatura Academy and first class character guild buildings.
You can use navigation to search for different locations and NPCs in a particular map (i.e. /navi prontera 124/76 - typing it in the chat bar will show you the way to Eden Teleport Officer in Prontera).
After being warped to Eden Group, move north until you reach the desk.
Secretary Lime Evenor.gif 1.57KB 2 downloadsTalk to Secretary Lime Evenor to register. She will give you the following character bound items:
Eden Group Mark.png 573bytes 1 downloads Eden Group Mark - This can be used to warp you back to your savepoint. It has a 120 minutes reuse waiting time. (Description says 120 minutes but I have noticed that Reuse Time in-game is really 30 minutes)
Old Battle Manual.png 442bytes 1 downloads Old Battle Manual - This item increases experience (EXP) rate by 150% for 30 minutes.
LV10 Blessing Scroll.png 438bytes 0 downloads LV10 Blessing Scroll - This item gives you an additional 10 points of STR, INT and DEX.
LV10 Agil Scroll.png 438bytes 0 downloads LV10 Agil Scroll - This item gives you an additional 12 points of AGI and increases your movement speed.
Yellow Butterfly Wing.png 444bytes 0 downloads Yellow Butterfly WIng - It can warp you to different maps of Rune Midgarts Kingdom. You need to choose from Prontera, Geffen, Payon, Morroc, Al De Baran and Alberta.
Loots for Red Potion or Carrot
You can exchange items with Izaac for red potions and Phelix for carrots. These NPCs are located at the Eden Group Kitchen (enter east portal from the Eden Group Desk).
Izaac.jpg 31.21KB 2 downloads
Note: You can loot Worm Peelings, Jellopy and Shell at ant_hell01. A lot of AFK Geneticist/Biochemist/Alchemist leveling their Homunculi, do not bother to gather those item drops.
Phelix.jpg 35.65KB 0 downloads
Note: Simultaneously pressing Alt+E will show the equipment window. This shows 3 tabs: 1) Item; 2) Gear; 3) Etc.; and 4) Fav (not functional at the moment).
The Item tab will contain the Health Points (HP) and Spell Point (SP) regenerating items, Skill Scrolls, Herbs, Eden Merit Badge, Attack Speed (ASPD) Potions, Stat Items, Taming Items and Teleporting/Warping Items.
The Gear tab will contain equipments - headgears (upper, mid, lower), body armors, weapons, shields, robes, shoes, accessories, special equipments (shadow armors and costumes) and pet eggs and armors.
The Etc. tab will contain items such as certificates and coupons and loot items that can be ingredients for quest items, brewing and forging, poison making and items for quests.
Novice Basic Skills
Every time you job level, you earn one skill point. As a novice, you will earn 9 skill points that you will be spending on the basic skills that are shown in the image below. This will enable you to use interface skills to interact with other players in-game (i.e. use of emoticons, trading, joining party, making chat rooms), use of Kafra storage and changing to First or Expanded Job class of your choice.
Basic Skills.jpg 34.56KB 0 downloads
Note: Simultaneously pressing Alt+S will show the skill window.
Basic Skill Icon.png 376bytes 1 downloads Basic Skill - Left Clicking the icon will add points on the skill. Clicking on the "Apply" tab will consume the points while "Reset" tab resets your applied points on a specific skill.
Equipment Window
Simultaneously pressing Alt+Q in your keyboard will show the equipments. There are 2 tabs for this window, the General and Special Equipment tabs.
The General tab will show your equipments.
General Equipment.jpg 14.54KB 5 downloads
Special Equipment tab will show your Shadow sets and costumes equip in this window.
Special Equipment.jpg 16.13KB 8 downloads
One free shadow equipment set that you can get in-game will be the Shadow sets giving additional STAT points. They are obtainable from one Mysterious bug randomly located in towns (I prefer to hunt these bugs at Izlude since its the smallest town in Rune Midgards).
Mysterious Bug.jpg 13.89KB 14 downloads 15 hits is needed to kill the bug.
These are the different items that you can obtain from the bugs. Sometimes the bug would not drop any item so just be patient. It takes around 30-60 minutes to complete the set (you need to complete the set to acquire 4 additional STAT points for your character).

II. Leveling your Chosen Class
Spoiler
In choosing your First Job/Class, you need to learn the different STAT that will be helpful for your character. I suggest that you start with an AGI-based melee character before transcending to High Novice from your Second Class/Job characters.
In Renewal, the Jumping Janeway Quests (usually an event) will help you reach level 99. She is located on the bridge in Izlude. However, I have been playing the game without Jumping Janeway, so we will be discussing different quests for leveling.
Leveling guides are available in Ragnarok Community forums and some of these guides include posts by fuyukikun, SOS101 and by fuyukikun's Leveling past Level 150.
They have already mentioned Eden Group Leveling Quests and Bounty Boards Quests. But you need to remember that Bounty Board Quests also gives you zeny upon completion of individual quests or if you complete all of the quests - 1 Eden Merit Badge and zeny. Eden Group Leveling Quests usually gives Base EXP compared to Bounty Board Quests which always gives Base and Job EXP.
The best way to gain EXP is to get similar Bounty Board Quests from different towns which only requires you to hunt one monster (i.e. Roda Frog, Ambernite, Elder Willow, Coco and Horn).
When you reach level 50, you can start doing the Dally Quen Daily Quest that rewards your character 100,000 Base and Job EXP and also exciting items (Dally Quen is no longer available). Of course, Gramp's Weekly Turn-In Events can be started at Base Level 70, but I suggest that you join a party at level 85 for added Party EXP share.
Be familiar with the Server EXP events and Spotlight Maps. Spotlight gives 200% EXP and Drop Rates on those maps. Server EXP rates affects the Bounty Board EXP rewards, Quest EXP rewards and Monster EXP kills. Spotlight Maps only affects the Monster EXP skills (needs confirmation).
Now, if you want to change your Transcendant 1st Class to 2nd Job much easier, make sure not to turn in the complete bounty quests before transcending. Finishing all the Bounty Board Quests for each town will help you achieve 2nd Transcendant Job easier after changing to your 1st Transcendant Job.
