Well, I intended to post a bit earlier but got busy testing new systems with our Programmer today.
With everything going pretty well I remembered, Oh yes it is time to return to the forums!

So, how long has it been...
Let's see...
I think the last thing I remember was...


And setting up the script to count the number of times it spawned some event monster like this...


So, to the point, I would like to re-establish a presence here on the forums.
Most are already here and for any that are not active here, I would like to bring them from the retired slack team here.
Over the next few months there is a lot to accomplish and I will need the community to help as much as it can.
For more than a month now, together with our Programmer, I have been focused on an effort which (despite not being very apparent or visible) is very important to every player. Namely, addressing an abundance of abusive 3rd party programs, client modifications or hacking has taken priority over the debugging of existing content and the preparation of new content due to their use becoming alarmingly prolific.
Now, granted that the battle with these is never won and is really a perpetual arms race, nonetheless there are some very strong protections which can reduce to very little of what remains that can be hacked. So, we seek to maximize that protection and in testing so far, compared with the most recent anti-hack update we did (which did not achieve the intended outcome), this next update does.
Unfortunately, that is all the detail I will share on that for the time being, given the nature of the topic, giving away too much information would be a mistake.

All of that to say, the time spent to address these issues has had to take priority over other nevertheless very important issues.

By tomorrow I think we will have begun some lively discussions here on what I can do in the next couple weeks to improve the balance situation between classes in Requiem. That will happen while I simultaneously am working to finish up our 9th Anniversary Event content and planning out for the updates through the end of 2017.
Some of the contents in the planning stages but intended to happen this year include: Legendary Weapons of every type and content for obtaining them, Epic Enchantments with effects that are amplified when enchanting one of the new weapons, a level cap increase and new skills (including new skill options such as knockback), a new special battlefield event map (to be used for hosting tournaments, races and other competitions), among other things I will elaborate on later once more certain of their implementation.

First - Fix Ranger Set. Now its trash (0 reinf stat(con/str/dex), 0 reinf long range attack, too small CAD for 1 target DD need +300cad in every parts)

Fix prot set - trash (no reinf MND, no reinf light attack, no reinf magic attack, no scad)

Fix Domi set - TOO OP (domi in this set kill all other profession, its madness - domi - support/summoner class, not DD)

Fix Druid inferno immunity to all control. Its too Op. OP set + OP skill (inferno) = madness.

And only than add new content and skills and cap lvl.

Priority should be the balance.

I think you meant cad not scad. For ranger.

Hey Helium, welcome to forum.

 

Understandably changing to 64 bit and adding anti hack with this makes a lot of sense, ofcourse people are very apprehensive, which is fair for them to feel since so far we didn’t see any successful anti hack.

 

 

After this, it was discussed in slack group that changes to Ranger and Warlord Darkest armour will be next on the list, I hope this to still be true.  Firebee, your comment about this being for the few and not the many, yes it is for the few but these “few” are 1. Using a very weak set 2. Changed class already because the set is so bad or 3. Playing other chars in hope helium will fix this, 4. Quit game . It is not right that these 2 sets are left so bad, warlord is hitting 3k dmg lol I mean come on @@

 

 

When it comes to skill changes I would like to see Ranger and Commie as priority, as these classes have been very abandoned over the last years whilst other classes like domi have had many changes.

 

 

Although classes across the board (except domi,defi,zerk, warlord because they already had) all need changes on skills even if it is just increases values, especially DOTS.

If and when Legendary weapons are out, I think you have to be sure you do not make the same mistakes as you have done with MDC weps, for example, now casters only use wand/shield, lets be more versatile again and keep wand/shield for pvp/block, Staff for heals and dps, Knuckles for HP. Helium what will this xeon be that drops from Nebullion ? any info on that?

 

About Tournaments and Events, the last tournaments where very unorganized, I think it should not be done again until you have the ability to fully focus on this and make it a smooth and organized, I believe many people wont take part until they see some successful events, so far all events have errors or you have removed items, and these errors where never fixed fast at all, I understand a lot of this is because we are still on 32 bit but events are very outdated, having a drop rate on is more of an event than this current stuff we are getting.

 

With level increase, I don’t imagine this to be possible until 1 year ++ unless you will get a lot more help from your team, also I don’t see it as a good idea sooner since there are many things needing fixed and updated in the current content, only when we see these things being done, I think it can seem positive, otherwise it just seems like you are trying to push out more content fast which will likely have fails.

 

Any preview on 9th Anniversary Event?

Hey now, this is false Kazara but I can imagine you are speaking with hyperbole to make the statement that your awesome suggestions are often overlooked. If so, OK but I don't think they are. In truth, over the many months of discussion in the Slack.com team your suggestions were often listened to and sometimes worked on (as in implemented in game), and while not much of it could be called game breaking fairly, the list is long. If I think way back on it, your suggestions played a part in the HP and stat improvements for Dominator Pets which happened towards the very beginning of our Slack.com team experimentation. Nevertheless, thank you very much for the feedback.

Although this, when you say, "Do not follow the fan based ppl aka: a dominator Fanboy there", is how the problems begin, at least with regards to some of the issues we had in the Slack.com teams, on the specific feedback, "...focus on fix current bugs and forgotten classes", I would say I agree on the suggested focus. Furthermore, I do plan to listen to the suggestions of everyone, but not necessarily follow the suggestions of everyone nor follow the suggestions of a few. Thank you for the feedback.

Alright, some meat. Let's see...

  • Ranger Darkness Armor Set - Changes needed: Mostly Agreed
    • ​On the specific stats, I see your recommended reinforce stats and upon initial glance I agree but may go with a variant.
  • Protector Darkness Armor Set - Changes needed: Less than Mostly Agreed
    • ​There has been quite a lot of debate on what stats are most important to Protectors and healing is not always the top priority for a Protector which is what the Holy and MND stats would serve well. I worry more about the Commanders, not in that the armor set is bad for them but more that as a class Commander has more issues than Protector. But, I could be wrong.
  • Dominator Darkness Armor Set - Changes needed: Partly Agreed
    • Some of the changes to reduce the strength of this set have already gone through when the casters sets got a revision a little bit back. Also, after the sets with the worst problems get fixed, then the Dominator may seem less OP when by comparison each set could be said to be OP, but only after the weakest are strengthened will that be more apparent.
  • Druid Inferno Immunity is not supposed to apply to all crowd control options. Both Doomguard and Inferno Immunities are supposed to each apply to a different range of crowd control options. However both are supposed to be Immune to Removal/Kick. This makes for some difficulty to get right due to the way skill options work, at least in context of the Immunity option.
    • So, although these are not the actual numbers, for the time being let's imagine different crowd control options are as follows: 1=Stunned, 2=Sleeping, 3=Halted, 4=Feared (PC), 5=Lithified, 6=Feared (NPC), 7=Debuffed, 8=Kicked, and 9=Silenced
    • For Immunity we must do a range.
      • Example: We can make the range from 1 to 2. The result is immunity to being stunned and immunity to being put to sleep.
      • Example: We can make the range from 8 to 9. The result is immunity to having your active skills kicked and immunity to having your activation of skills silenced.
    • So, for immunity we cannot for example have a result which is immunity to being stunned and immunity to having your active skills kicked, at least not on a single skill as Contract with Inferno or Contract with Doomguard because skills can have up to 2 options and for the Contracts one option is the transformation and the other option is the immunity. Now, with some degree of complication and the possibility that it will not work (but I will test it), it may be possible to have one skill, on activation, trigger another skill to activate (in this case at a 100% chance) and then the other skill that gets activated can have 2 options and in that way we can have 2 different ranges of things to be immune to. Whew, in any case though, I agree having complete Immunity to all effects is not something any class should have (as not even Adamant Mind gives total immunity to all effects although it probably has the largest range of immunities but also has a time limit with a reasonable cool down). We can discuss this more in detail over the next week before I make any decision to change things for this specific group of skills (Transformations).

OK, before I go AFK for a short time, let me address xSweetDreamsx and ask to give me a little bit as there are some other work related things that need my attention but i will get right back here and finish my catching up on this thread with some response to your feedback too. Read careful, I said last slack group. HP of domi pets, aoc removed, defense passive removed and so on happened in the first slack group (CR one).

As long as you give proper stats to pets and pet skills, you can nerf domi set SCAD from reinforce from +300 to +150 for each piece, which is above the average. The 2 things should go together. You can also get data of battlefield scores and post them here so we can see all this power of domis lol

And how comes defense is a priority when protector already has much over cap defense with +0 set?

Protector heals didn't go up as radi ones with the new set, resulting in protector having way too weak heals and being a useless wall of meat. Heals are important to protector, you should simply add mind to it instead of + defense.

Alright, well I had planned on being AFK for some time but instead I think I will finish responding to the community responses from my post yesterday and go ahead with first, thanking xSweetDreamsx and any others that offered welcome back wishes and then with some response to the feedback.

 

With regards to the 64 bit conversion, being that it is totally necessary in order to keep expanding content in Requiem, it takes top priority. Especially since on the test server we are getting close to the upper limit of size of arrays/maps that can be loaded by themselves from one server to another in 32 bit data chunks. And on the anti hack systems: With the most recent update/addition to the systems, although I agree it did not have any effect on the most abusive hack(s), actually towards that purpose, it did have an effect on a quite small group of people that have been unpacking the CSV files from the VDK files after a patch, modifying them and then repacking them into the VDK and launching the client. Without saying much more, the most abusive hack(s) have in testing this week been disabled by additional work with our Programmer after we examined the results closely from the last update and realized the solution would have to be quite a bit more sophisticated to match. I do not plan on announcing it when we put these changes in actually but I think it will surely be noticed and afterwards I may comment on it.

 

I think the Twain quote you posted is especially relevant, as it may be when it comes to the 9th Anniversary event, "The secret to getting ahead is getting started." I have many ideas, a few things actually getting tested but nothing of real significance yet for it. Time remaining to the latest possible date of 9th Anniversary Event implementation: 7 days. And indeed that is what I am working on today after taking some time to visit and interact here on the forums.

 

With regards to specific feedback on classes and skills, we will get into the discussion on some other threads, perhaps in a different board of the Requiem Community or in Community Chat as well but give me a little time to further examine your feedback today and I will come back with a point by point we can talk more about. For the moment I will have to do the things I mentioned before now and will be AFK for a short time. After that, a break and then I'll be back here to catch up and respond to new and present topics, specifically your class focused feedback in addition to further feedback posted in the interim.

About Treasure Dungeon, I would remove the simple and supernus bonuses from rare and carus TDs, while improving chance for exi/rare ones.

It is a good list, in fact I was just thinking it should be posted in a thread here https://forums.warpp...ls-suggestions/ where I may even pin it up while many of it's entries are to be arranged or are works in progress. Didn't want to quote it untruncated so just posting as a reply to thread but I want to thank you Vulpes93 for the great post while I am still reading it. There are lots of things I would like, but these 2 are my primary concerns.

 

Anti-hack software. It simply doesn't work and can be overly intrusive for legitimate players. Things like XignCode install a rootkit that exposes the user to potential security risks. While others like HackShield are bloated and draw system resources while targeting users with false positives. The software simply doesn't work. The script kiddy mearly needs to spoof the software or server into believing it is running legitimately. Even when this game had an anti-hack software attached to it, there were still people using speed hacks. When Ragnarok Online had a new system for dealing with bots that updated it's verification every 2 weeks, the community eventually figured out how the verification is done and it became moot to bypass. The major hack that users experience is the speed hack. This is because movement calculations are done client side instead of server side. The fix would be to have the movement input event sent to the server from the client, and the server calculate movement then send out packets with updated location data. Anything done by the client can be modified by the user.

 

Balance in general. You will never balance the classes. The game has the same problem it had when the level limit was increased to level 60. It was never designed to scale. Unless you change the underlying formulas, it will always be a battle with the gameplay fundamentals. Now we are at a point where the only stats that matter are HP and S/CAD. This tends to favor some classes over others. There are only 2 ways I can see this being properly addressed. Redoing the gameplay fundamentals and modifying every single class and monster in the game. Or having a horizontal progression after level 50 and having a massive PVP focus redoing all the monsters and classes beyond level 50.

 

Also since you mentioned unpacking the .VDKs, your data structure is an inefficient mess with some duplicated filenames that sometimes use empty texture maps.

Wellcome back on forum, Helium.
Won't write you much about classes, just wanna mention that number 1 priority should be changing of ranger, warlord and avenger sets.
I can call it suggestion, more like wish. I want to ask you to add 4th skill bar, and make "mouse4" and "mouse5" available to bind to skills like normal keystrokes.
This is my bar:

As you see it's full. Now I wanna add more skills on my skillbars and I have to remove some weapons and ornaments instead of putting them on the 4th bar. Switching bars between 1/2/3/4/5 is not usefull at all! These 2 changes are not difficult at all, please do them after adding 64 bit system.

Agree with all ideas. Only 1 thing what i can suggest its about elementalist skills and his darkest set.

 

 

1. 

High Concentration

Its 21% ( 90 lvl ) and +30% on max skill lvl ( but need increase lvl cap ) + magic attack for 35 sec and 2 minute cooldown. Berserk have similar buff, but he have DNA to decrease cooldown. Forsaker and Tempest have +20% passive, this is much better than 35 secons right? My suggestion about make elementalist buff passive, like Tempest or Forsaker skill, or add new DNA to decrease CD of this skill. 

 

2nd option will be better if u will increase character lvl cap.

 

2. 

Magic Mastery Bliss of Fairy Raging Strike

In old times this skill provide pure magic attak( not elementary dmg ), and i think that is right. My suggestion is change this buffs again to pure magic attack.

Mind Enhancement

I suggest to remove this skill and add something interesting. Many classes get very cool and usefull 80 skills ( Tempest (- % cast ) , Domi( -% Crit Chance ) , Protector( Anti Control ) , Defiler ( -% HP ), Assassin ( + SCAD\CAD buff), etc. 
 
And Elementalist ( magic zerk ) get... + MND buff! Really? Totally useless. I suggest add someting about + DMG.
 
Or change this buff to really good party buff, what really increase party power. Like + 500 all stats to all party members.
 
4.

Mysterious Storm

Useless skill. My suggestion is decrease his CD from 17 sec. to 6 sec. and add DOT effect or something interesting.

Lightning Chill Slash

Too bad slower effect. If u remember elementalist cant use skill in 1-4 m range. I suggest increase slow effect OR just remove any effects of this kills, increase accuracy ( hit chance, now its sucks, maybe near 80 % or less idk why ) and decrease cd from 6 sec to 2-3.

 

6. Few words about new elem set. Someone can say what elementalist set is worst caster set in the game. I cant agree with that ( maybe partly ).

But ofcourse elem set need some changes. My suggestion do not affect on ballance, i just suggest to remove all elementary dmg from set and add pure magic attak on every part ( 180+ on every part ). And maybe add some scad ~60 per part or a bit more.

 

7.

And about main problem ( for elem ). Atm too easy to make full resist ( full resist with all debuff, i mean 140 + all resists without debuffs )

1. Alot of intelegence in new sets

2. Usefull enchants with + % resist

3. Alot of + % resist stuff ( Ornaments ( balls, clovers, TB ornament +70% all res. ), TB shields. + % resist in weapons and jewels.

 

This mean when usually elem fight vs good geared player, their -% resist debuffs totally useless. Also if he use -20% resist debuff in weapon this help some times but if enemy have 140-150 resist ( now this is too easy ) -20% debuff useless too ( -70% debuf not work at all, funny )

 

8.

And last thing, Elementalist just dont have enough skill points to learn all usefull skills ( other proffesions can do it easy, maybe exept warlords ). My suggestion is merge all -resist debuffs to one -50% water, wind, fire, and electro ( - light will be good too, but not neccesary )

 

That is all what i want tell now. Maybe i will update this post later. 

 

UPD.

 

Ah yes, i forget to say important suggestion about new Legendary Weapon. i think all players in requiem will agree with me. 

 

Well, my sugesstion is: Please! Make option to choose stat of new weapon by player, this is very important! Noone want wear launcher with DEX stat ( cause DEX totally useless atm ), rangers want CON main stat launchers ( or STR ), same thing with other weapons. We want INT staff, or CON wands, etc. Just look at 85 weapons and make same compound system in legendary. And ofcourse we need + HP, + % crit chance and + SCAD\CAD like in MDC (  but ofc bigger values )

 

Also, please NO MORE CAD Swords and Claymore, make it SCAD please!

Hi Helium,welcome back.
You made a lot of people mad after you put darkest armor in game,why?
Cuz some classes can hit up to 7k amd some as wl hit only 3-4k cmon,ranger/avanger trash set,commie 4k dmg ,elem temp 5.5-5.7k.
With the terror set at least everyone has kinda the same dmg,idk what makes u do such a different in dmg.
If u balance the dmg between set you could focuse on skills and no1 will cry about weak set.....
