If you know that there is no word of this being resolved, why you bother doing instances then? You already know that DC will happen in the middle of your run, right?

 

+1 to this. Why are players even attempting to do instance when ddos is still underway. Seems quite tard in my opinion. Just do something like fishing/turn-in/adventure quest.

What is even point in attacking such a old game with a small population can only guess attacker is a current player and doing this for whatever compensations we may get i think this happen last summer too

DDoS attacks do not affect Authentication, Authorization or Accountability. Only Availability is affected.  There is no security threat from this DDoS attack.

Actually, the attacker can steal the information of the users like bank accounts, and email, they can hack your account and change its pass to make it unaccessible. it is pretty nasty and destructive to the server that's why WP needs to take this DDOS down quickly before it steals our information that we give from the company.

Overall: It is much better if we avoid doing instances these days so that we can't waste our consumables and exp from nothing.that's why i halt all of my Instance run these days and resuming it after this issue is resolve. And also, the attacker looks like he/she is determined to attack WP (not just WP, but also roPH ).

 

We can only pray that WP will find the location of the attacker and silence its attack.

No, that's not actually what a DDoS involves. Honestly, you could probably click a few things to start a DDoS and walk away and it will keep doing it for as long as you told it or until they tell it to stop. It doesn't give them any special access, and in fact hinders them just as much as it does us. They'd have to deal with the giant flood of junk traffic just the same.

Not with DDoS. Thats not what it does/how it works. The affected zombie attacker machines are at risk, not us users.

 

Where the risk comes in is if they manage to spoof the servers or convince users to download something icky.

Another fear would be a man in the middle attack, but it would make little sense to combine a DDoS attack with a man in the middle attack.

These would get spotted and provide a path for combating the attack.

 

Considering the financial liability, I'm sure they've been monitoring for anything looking fishy at all; the whole infrastructure would have been taken offline and analyzed. Pages like this would be replaced by a warning to users.

I would say sending specialised programme for DdoS or for phishing/stealing data is better than sending a DdoS programme and then if successful collect information and send it back to the user.

 

Reason because:

1. Collecting data takes up memory/time, hence it will affect the DdoS frequency up to a certain point. So the person won't be DdoS-ing at the maximum output. 

- But they may choose to do so if lets say they only need 60% of their DdoS capacity to completely ruin a network and they can spare that extra 40%.

- But this also means readjusting as if the other party counters their DdoS, they need to increase the frequency of their DdoS, hence lower memory to spare.

 

Yes they can steal info but thats secondary. Unless they are using DDos to mask their information gathering plan.

I'm glad the disconnections are at a minimum so far. However, I do want to know about the fates of the banned IP addresses. A handful of friends of mine are still IP banned and had to opt for different alternatives to log on for WoE and general PvM. Any update on that would be appreciated.

Yesterday's WoE didnt got any DC and long for more than 5 hours, HTF takes me nearly 30 mins, i take the risk but thats no the point. The point here is: Why do I have to take a risk of being DCed in first place? they have a issue, related to a person doing DDoS or many of em, but its a issue on their server and services that must be fixed ASAP (we are on 6th day of DDoS, or 7th?), and they didnt say a thing about restore VIP days or anything, just "once things are stable we will reevaluate the current compensation plan". Thats not a promise for me to get all what i want back, plus the zeny im looking to make. Thats why I have to take a risk. If you can not got this, well seems a bit tard in my opinion. anyways.

 

Good morning and as I ask before, i think must be an update from the staff of the current status every day or 12 hrs, but thats my opinion. Since yesterday than I ask, VModCinnamo says basically no news, still under attack and before that was Camp's post. Seriously, 6 to 7 days and there is no progress at all? or report to the users at all than that?

 

Later we can complain about anything you want but for now, i want news or updates on the issue from the staff every certain hours, imagine there is a hurricane coming to the coast or ON the coast and the NHC must update people about it every 6 or 12 hrs it depends. We are in something like that, under attack. Wake up!

I loss my privilege to join the refine event, i loss my 3 days VIP and counting, i loss my daily intense specialy banquets quest i am very very disappointed why its very slow action i file 2 tickets until now without response but i believe and trust to there Warpotal staff us soon as possible the problem become clear and done i am go and waiting more a lot time for this solve the problem.

I don't think there has been any DDoS attacks on idRO since May. I work at home and my RO client is always on. It's actually kinda wierd that all other servers are getting DDoS attacked but not idRO.

Until now i am wish to log-on for my ro acount character but still not avaible to connect here my country by using internet connection GLOBE DSL

 

Im also using Globe (home broadband) and I cant log to the game for 2 days. Right now Im using vpn (as suggested by HeresNatan) to connect to the game but I still, experiencing DC's a lot.
