Everytime I try to play RO it just fails to patch or connect . my internet is fine and my firewalls are not blocking it any advice?

Other online games are working fine and I have this issue with 3 different computers.

I've been having this problem since last week. I managed to bypass patching but I encounter lots of issue on sprites. I reinstalled the game but now I cant even logon. I always get "Disconnected from server" message when choosing character.

WESftws, follow suggested solution #2 [The updater fails to connect to the server] here.

himulmol, please do not bypass the patcher, it will cause issues.

Try suggested solution #4 [The updater is constantly reinstalling recent updates] here.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi VModCinnamon,

Yeah, tried it but im back to my old problem "cannot connect to patch server". I already tried step 2 and Appendix to no avail.

I could connect and download to ftp sites using chrome, firefox and IE.

As per Axylus post here https://forums.warpp...-3#entry2618578, the patcher is using ie to download updates. So I was thinking that instead of ie, edge is being referenced or called by the code on windows10 (the os im using).

According to this post,

https://answers.micr...b9-81c9a8d54107

microsoft edge has an issue on ftp. I tried edge and yeah, I cant browse or download files from ftp sites.

hope I can help with my findings, thanks by the way  :p_hi:

From the logs, it shows that your ISP is PLDT. Is it possible to switch to another to test the patch server?

Edit: I am not sure if this would help but switch to Google DNS, see if you can make a connection to patcher through it or not.
Guide: https://developers.g...-dns/docs/using

I'm almost certain that PLDT is performing some kind of network filtering that is preventing their customers from connecting to the IRO servers. If this is the case, then I'm afraid that the only option for the affected players is to report the problem to PLDT and hope that they fix it.

Found an article concerning PLDT suffering from connection issues due to submarine cable cut, this was somewhere around last month however. It may be possible this is a side effect.

Hello!

It seems that I can connect to any ftp sites using a browser but not with an ftp client like filezilla and windows ftp command. I also tested using a vpn client ( tunnelbear ) and I got connected but could not download a file. I got stuck at "150 Opening ASCII mode data connection." error.

@VModCinnamon,

Yeah, we got no internet for days back then.

@Axylus

I'm going to call my ISP and talk about the issue.

Thanks guys! :)

Hello!

It seems that I can connect to any ftp sites using a browser but not with an ftp client like filezilla and windows ftp command. I also tested using a vpn client ( tunnelbear ) and I got connected but could not download a file. I got stuck at "150 Opening ASCII mode data connection." error.

I've discovered that ftp unfortunately isn't useful for diagnosing a computer's inability to retrieve files from the update server because it only supports "active mode". Almost all FTP clients, including Internet Explorer (which the updater uses to retrieve updates), use "passive mode" by default because many routers don't correctly handle active mode.

Did you change any of FileZilla's settings before you attempted to connect to the server? I was able to connect and retrieve files by doing the following:
  • Install and then open FileZilla (64-bit) on the latest version of Windows 10.
  • Press control-S.
  • Create a new site with the address ("host") patch1.playragnarok.com.
  • Press Connect.
The following workaround allowed Wipe0ut (whose ISP is PLDT) to update his/her client and play:

Note:
  • You should only complete this procedure if your ISP is PLDT.
  • Step 6 is necessary to allow the updater to update itself.
  • Download the following file, and then extract it into the client installation folder1:

Renewal client updates (2017-02-16 to Date).zip
  • Close any applications that can consume a large amount of bandwidth, such as BitTorrent clients.
  • Connect your computer to a VPN (such as ProtonVPN, TunnelBear, or Windscribe) or cellular network (using a mobile telephone).
  • Open the Renewal client. The updater should very quickly install all of the available updates.
  • Disconnect your computer from the VPN or cellular network.
  • Press Play, and then close the client.
  • In File Explorer/Windows Explorer, navigate to the client installation folder.
  • Right-click on the file Ragexe.exe, and then choose Send toDesktop (create shortcut).
  • Right-click on the shortcut that you created in the previous step, and then choose Properties.
  • Append the text " 1rag1" to the value of the Target field (including the space and excluding the quotation marks).

    Spoiler
  • Press OK.
  • Give the shortcut a descriptive name, such as "Renewal".
To open the client while bypassing the updater, open the shortcut that you created on step 8. When a new update is released, you should update the client by doing the following:
  • Download the new update files from the update server, and then move them into the client installation folder.
  • Repeat steps 2 to 5 of the preceding set of instructions.
By updating the client using this method, your computer should consume only an extremely small amount of bandwidth while connected to the VPN or cellular network.

i managed to do this:

4. The updater is constantly reinstalling recent updates

Solution:

  • Ensure that your internet connection is suitable for playing online games. For example, a metered internet connection with no remaining data allowance is not suitable for playing any online game that receives weekly updates.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Clear Internet Explorer's cache. (See Appendix: 2.)
  • Manually download the update list:
    • Open the following file in Chrome or Firefox:

      text.pngpatch2.txt
    • Press control-S.
    • Navigate to the client installation folder, press Save, and then choose to replace the existing version of the file.
  • Download the following file:

    archive.png Renewal client updates (2017-02-16 to 2017-10-26).zip
  • Extract the file that you downloaded in the previous step into the client installation folder, and then choose to replace any existing versions of the files.

and get the updated client with numbers on bottom right, as shown as below

CfHCBG3.jpg

but still DC when selecting character
