Do you even understand the thousands of hours people have poured into acquiring those items? You might not have god items, or mvp cards, but how would you feel if your most prized in-game acquisitions, whatever those happen to be, were just wiped out at the whim of someone who had no concept of the effort you put into getting them? Would you just take the loss and keep playing afterward if that happened to you?

What you're suggesting is not only self-centered, but I daresay that it's evil and morally repugnant. It's comparable to someone going to city council and requesting that an addon to your house be demolished with no compensation to you. Mind you, this add on is entirely legal and within code, but the other person wants it destroyed because they're jealous, or they just don't like you, or whatever. They want to legitimize they're desire to vandalize and outright destroy your property, which you worked hard for, when normally, doing something would be illegal and result in criminal charages if they tried to do it themselves. Thus, they appeal to the government to fulfill their depraved desires on their behalf.

In short: It's easy enough for you and others to simply say "well, just wipe them all" because it won't hurt you in any way, but that's very selfish to not think about how it will hurt others. You have no right to call this person selfish, you hypocrite. Neither you nor any other player has the right to arbitrarily strip others of their efforts.

This post gives me a headache. Its selfish and "morally repugnant" to want to keep your stuff at the cost of 500+ other peoples' future enjoyment of the game. You are twisted backwards in your logic.

Your analogy is horrendously bad too. If I put 80 hours into clearing a console RPG and I start the game over with all my "hard earned" end game equips in a New game+ its fun for like 15 minutes, then I quit. Because it is never as fun as when you have trials and tribulations and stuff to earn still. When I go back and replay the game every 2 years or so, I start a new file, I don't load the new game+. After a merge most people will quit after this "15 minutes" of having a server where the god items and mvp cards outnumber players. It happened on Iris and it happened on Ymir. That you don't realize this begs me to out your pattern recognition and reasoning abilities into question. Many people on Ymir have realized this and jumped ship to Classic or Ymir, even if they owned godlies on Ymir. Because WoE is boring and has no point when you have nothing left to compete over. Why are you the last horse to reach this particular epiphany?

Its selfish for you to want to destroy the future of this game and cause an exodus of players so you can keep your "hard earned" toys. You had fun getting them, making them, and using them. That's the point. You don't play a game of baseball and start the next game with your previous number of runs because you worked hard for them last game. You had them, used them, enjoyed them, and marked yourself against others, and now it's time to do it again to stay competitive in the game.

Your accomplishments on RO is your "score on a the game", not fricken real "property". Ask Gravity how much you truly own the data on their hard drive.

Nobody would be asking for the wipe of these if it wasn't necessary for the continuation of this game. I have put 8 years or so of effort into this game and if it came necessary for every account on iRO to be wiped and everyone to start over as a 1/1 novice or else the game is going to close permanently, I'd give up all my stuff in a heartbeat to allow the game to continue. Because unlike you, I don't put selfishly horded digital items and levels over actually being able to play and enjoy the game with other people, and compete in WoE.

The 1500+ people on classic are all people who started over. They gave up up to 10 years of effort on the now-renewal servers to play there. Because they felt it would be fun. Can you maybe stop thinking about yourself for a minute and instead think of what will be fun for everyone if there was a merge?

Been reading this thread at work all day, people quoting my post. My faith in RO stands, but after reading your posts, I've lost hope in humanity. Thanks to the few who tried to interpret for the idiots.

actually, the last time you logged was 11 weeks ago.....

That was my partner logging in to make sure everything was still there after a forced password change email.

Blah blah blah.

Your post is full of broken sentences, flawed logic and no reasoning. This post does nothing to back up your original argument that "I am the problem with Ymir" and "You don't deserve items you worked for". You are just posting for the sake of arguing.

This post gives me a headache. Its selfish and "morally repugnant" to want to keep your stuff at the cost of 500+ other peoples' future enjoyment of the game. You are twisted backwards in your logic.

This post gives me a headache. Translation: Play the game to get good items, then to make everyone happy you have to delete your items. Sounds like a good way to make players want to stay.

Here's a handy fact: WoW has been running for nearly 8 years now. Imagine how rich some of those players are. Hundreds of new players join those servers every day. Do they even consider the fact that some people are rich - no. Your point is invalid.

Jaye, this entire thread has been you personally attacking every poster in here. How are you not banned?

I think the simplest answer to you is that you have like zero reading comprehension and a warped sense of reality. Getting attacked by people who make no sense and then dismantling them defensively is not personally attacking people. Its voluntary masochism on your part for attempting to dissemble a logically sound and intelligent point made by someone who is a better debater than you.

That WoW analogy is so convoluted and non-sensical I almost hit my head on my desk in shock. Games like WoW are scaled so that new players aren't penalized competitively next to high level players. RO is unique in that end game content dominates new players and holds them under their thumb with non-instanced bosses that new players can't hope to compete for and PVP/battlegrounds that pits a level 150 vs a level 70 with no rewards for the 70. And gear isn't bound so overpowered 150s can transfer uber gears to level 10 novices making even a lvl 10 novice vs another 10 novice incredibly inequitable, unlike WoW. WoW doesn\'t have items like MVp cards and Godlike items that are so overpowered that 2 people with equal amount of time investment into the game won't be binarily different tiers of strength just because one was lucky and won the lottery when killing a boss. The awesoemx0rz loot from endgame bosses on WoW are great but don't make you a veritable GOD next to someone who wasn't lucky. If you want to use WoW as a model of comparison, it is a perfect teacher for why you are wrong on everything.

Second time I hear this. And I don't mind being left out and trusting you guys with that statement. I would still like to know what kind of timeframe you guys are looking at before releasing some information on your plans.

Not timeframe to implement. Just a timeframe to release information. There has to be some sort of deadline in getting most of the problems hashed out on whatever your plans are.

Wait too long and you might not have a server to fix.

this is exactly what i'm afraid of............i also agree that there needs to be open communication between we the players, and the staff, so there should be a time frame as to when we will here something, like endovdaze said, not when these things will be happening, just what will be happening will make alot of people relax

It's September and they haven't released Malangdo Island which AFAIK was supposed to be out before August ended.

I don't think releasing plan information would really matter. It's just gonna raise your expectation for a greater fall.

Back up your argument with "you are wrong about everything" - perfect logic and reasoning there.

Also, using a successful MMO in comparison to a struggling one when trying to determine the problems is a bad idea? You are obviously struggling to find an argument in this discussion. Sorry Jaye, you lose again. You aren't a good debater, just a good rambler and question dodger.

Don't bother posting again unless you can answer this with a sound argument.

"I stopped playing Ragnarok because there are very few players left. I will play again if you can move my stuff somewhere with more players" - How is this "the problem with Ymir".

And to crown this post off you're complaining because you might lose stuff on a game you don't even play.

You said I have poor reading comprehension? I'm not complaining at all. In fact I'm perfectly happy to keep playing other games, while poking my head around Warp Portal to see if anything has changed.

This post is like...

Me: The sky is blue.
You: No its, green. I am an expert on the sky and its green.
Me: No... its blue because of refracted light through moisture and here is like seven links to why you are wrong.
You: You didn't back up you're argument and you ramble and dodge questions and are struggling to find an argument. You lose again.
Me: Why the hell am I arguing with you when you're this dense and delusional?

So yeah. Why the hell am I arguing with you when you're this dense and delusional?

The problem is they can't tell us anything, or else people will try to abuse the information to benefit themselves for a merge. Also with the high amount of god items / MVP cards in Ymir, it definitely does take them months to plan as they have mentioned And any merge in this current state is going to have a lot of factors involved that will upset a large amount of players (breaking god items into pieces, that sort of thing). Which is why they may be putting a merge off.

Er... so speaking in terms of a realistic time frame why not...

-Push Classic towards more social content while enabling WoE later this year
-Get a realistic figure on how many players are active on Ygg, Valk and Ymir; sorry but dual clienting should be disabled for a Week to get a clear number
-Enable Sakary to test the development of other games modes (PVP,PK, BG/KVM, GVG, PVE)
-When there is a good level and consistent feed back from the testing and a good estimate on how many people are active, start to develop an action plan that can allow for Valk, Ymir and Ygg to draw a steady source of income.
-Push advertisement towards social and casual gammers, they're the demographic which will be the tipping point with new players,
-Discuss the progressive ideas of what server mergers have to offer and less of the gloom and doom of personal opinion passed off as "truth"
-Consolidate or retire a server is deemed nessary and honestly it is something to take serious
-Discuss how the merger or retirement should happen to ensure game play is respected not the narcissistic ego of some of the players
-Focus on the development of another server that can focus on other game modes or do a honest retooling of Renewal (just like jRO has done)

Some of the players of iRO feel as if their success is only measured by their Grinding or Items acquired; it's never by the actual growth they made as individual players on the other side of the screen. By the friendships, relationships and even children that many have enjoyed. When have really lost sight of what matters when the only thing that matters is my god items and DPS. It's a game yes, it has competition, however the game didn't thrive based on that alone. If that were true "Renewal" would have been perfect.

The times have changed and so should the game, and honestly it's at the point where many will rebuke this solely based on a closed minded view of what the market wants; proof lies in the fact that many MMO's are shut down every week due to low player base. iRO is not an exception to the rule...

Basically you are correct except for which players they should be ignoring: you. Any idiot can look at the result of the last 2 merges and know they aren't beneficial in the slightest, long-term. The weak decision was to announce a merge in the first place.

I made absolutely no mention of server merges or whatever you're thinking of, but you clearly are a very pleasant person to talk to. :rice:

it's because people b*tch around the decisions they make. "Oh I'm quitting because gods are going to be wiped" or "Oh I'm quitting since the server is overloaded with gods." They have to wait and see the majority of people who actually want them in or out. That's why the merge deadline is in a year
