[renewal] Question to renewal players

I don't think a single line or sentence about another game (even naming it) constitutes a discussion.

I don't think contrasting how two companies handle the same scenario constitutes as promoting another game/detracting from the hosting game, necessarily (which is why you'd want to ban discussion of other games). I mean, when stumping about, say politics, people reference what other communities do, right? When discussing science, you compare the findings of another team on occasion, too? etc. Debating this is off topic. oops.

WOW. other games do a much better job at retaining players who they may have lost because of grinding burnout.

Perhaps instead of ignoring successful models it would be wise to attempt to keep up with the competition.

WP should be paying much closer attention to competition in general, whether it be other games, "alternative RO solutions", or even RMT. 

That is a silly rule that is honestly out dated. Advertising is one thing, discussing a parallel is another.

If it bothers you that much, you could always open a proposal thread to change it or speak to CM Oda about updating the rules to be more sympathetic to such discussions. That thread is pretty old after all.

During this week, mods were specifically instructed to not allow naming competitors on the forums. Please be understanding in the meantime and stay within the guidelines and consider my suggestion about continuing your constructive discussion.

Naming competitors titles could make wp forums pop up on google, oh well what do we know. We just play the games

Censoring other (better) MMOs is not going to magically make RO (and RO2) better. Just thought the CMs should know.

Why would you want to go from a 3rd class to 2nd class?

Because there were 12 classes in pre-Renewal, they all had a use, and they made for fun party play. Now there's 5-6, and they're all bland, with the game only existing for 4 hours/week, the rest of the world just being a monster blender to prepare for those 4 hours. Granted, this is more due to Renewal mechanics than the 3rd jobs themselves, but nonetheless, there's a reason there's so few active players left.

When I asked CMMaridah about it, she clarified by saying that talking about games that are not direct competitors of Warp Portal is okay (e.g. NBA Live 14 for Xbox One), but anything that could be considered competition is not allowed. Hope this helps.

I think the major strike against Classic for me, more than anything else, is the interface. RO's interface has always been appallingly bad, but Classic takes it up to 11 by completely disregarding what few advances have been made to the interface in Renewal. Like, there's zero reason not to have the same 4 hotbar + shortcut keys setup in Classic as exists in Renewal other than some misguided idea of "keeping it old-school" and I would sincerely hope that WP is going to do something about it.

The only reason I would go back to Classic would be to kill some high tier MvP's I couldn't kill pre-Renewal... meaning Bio3 MvP's, Satan Morroc, ET, etc., using pre-Renewal mechanics. Done that, if WoE's are fun enough, I could stay a bit longer or play one of two WoE's.

As if RO (and RO2) could compete with other games in its current state anyhow.

There are so many things I would like to point about this statement but yeah. Scratch that bs about being an old game.
