this guy gets it

This guy gets me.

but in all seriousness, I dont think a greyworld makes any difference to gameplay, looks more boring than actually putting you at an advantage.

hey since this is on topic, I was wondering. If i can report someone for auto wing.

But then again, no proof.

So how exactly can a player tell that someone uses auto flywing to find mini bosses.

Why i asked is cause ppl are running about and winging on another character at the same time.

All these edits and unknown stuff to me.

Is that possible? to auto wing to find a monster?

And btw since certain edits is allowed and giving others advantage of seeing things i cant.

I'd like that in my patch plz. And im sure others who cant edit -_- except WP forum own post, will appreciate it.

You...you...you...! What are you doing? *facepalm and drags Chakri away with a metal leash tied to a tree*

Why not just ban even cosmetic modifications altogether? Unpassable diversionary benches and camouflage behind walls is fair game in warfare, the pee aura is there to stay, and small card sprites have been staple for the past 16 years. What's so hard about getting used to it? Having an advantage over the meta-game system mechanism serves the user, ulterior or not. What kind of sane person likes staring at black and white tetris blocks in advanced-gen computers for the heck of it?

If it didn't give you an advantage why would people use it? I think it's pretty obvious there's a competitive edge to it. In any other game I'd say it should be made illegal. iRO though is so messed up when it comes to custom clients/edits/3pps that enforcing anything is like trying to draw blood from a stone.

Players with a better grasp on game mechanics will have an advantage using greyworld. I think it is good for players to be able to apply what they know.

Being able to see players behind textures that would have normally been there is unfortunate, but can't be proven.

And when you think this is the same game that bans changing emblem because people don't like having to think for a few seconds....

so here's the thing

Maya Purple hack can't be detected, but that's not allowed

Editting player sprites to make them larger can't be detected, but that's not allowed

Using a bot client to log on so long as you're present can't actually be detected, but that's not allowed.

Autopot can be undetectable if set correctly, but that's not allowed.

No delay is almost undetectable unless the user is being blatant, but that's not allowed.

So why condone/approve/promote such an obviously advantageous edit such as flatmap/greyworld and make the same argument when it can be applied to all of the above and more? Simply saying "it can't be detected" isn't a good reason to allow players to promote usage of such things.

Players with a better grasp on game mechanics will have an advantage using titaned sprites. I think it is good for players to be able to apply what they know.

Being able to pick players out of stacks that would have normally obscured them is unfortunate, but can't be proven.

You're so pro-cheater edits and your flimsy arguments trying to defend them are so bad it's actually embarrassing. Titan isn't the exact same thing, but you so easily dismiss the obvious advantages being gained by performing personal grf edits against those who aren't using them. Competitive games are designed around being played on a fair and even playing field, this edit and others fly in the face of that and unfairly invalidate intended legitimate gameplay strategies (like stealthing behind objects and camera angles).

Apparently being "pro" just means having to edit the grf to circumvent game mechanics and make things easier to see and play, but yeah it's totally cool fair and normal go ahead with trying to justify it as such /s.

Actually, players with a better grasp on game mechanics using titaned sprites don't gain more of an advantage over other players using titaned sprites.

Is the argument now "skilled players should be able to edit their clients to gain an advantage over unskilled players" ? because that's what I'm reading and I think it's pathetic.

If you're soooooooo good you don't need edits. period.

That said you're wrong because class priority, build, dps, co-ordination, reaction time, keeping target still all apply in the difference between a player using titan and a player not using titan.

another example might be, should players farm ET via an exploit?

"Players with a better grasp on game mechanics will have an advantage using their knowledge in being able to farm TSODs en masse faster than other players. I think it is good for players to be able to apply what they know."

I am guilty of nothing you're alluding to accusing me of btw. I don't even use greymap, but I know it would help a lot. I don't know what's wrong with pointing out that it does provide an advantage.

I said a player with a better grasp of game mechanics using titan doesn't gain more benefit than a normal player using titan.

Titan edits allow players to instantly pick out and target classes without having to actually see and pick them out.

Greyworld edits allow players to instantly pick out and detect players hiding behind map obstacles without having to actually look around and find them.

It could be argued that knowing the key classes and characters you personally need to see and target (and thus titan) in a gvg is knowledge of game mechanics.

Isn't that basic logic for all cheats? a player with a better grasp of game mechanics using <whatever> doesn't gain more benefit than a normal player using <whatever>.

The advantage is the same.

edit: I'm alluding to accusing nobody of anything. I was simply thinking of a cheat that the same logic could be applied to that is as far away from woe as possible to demonstrate that it's not that great of a standpoint.

In my comparisons, both players are using the edit. The advantage is different.

And I wouldn't even use greyworld to find people behind obstacles. It's such a small concern honestly.

I will also say that people will not longer keep getting chaosed with greyworld as well.

It promotes better gameplay honestly. In a way that's not automatic or game breaking too. I think it should be allowed and the gms should work on providing it.

Maybe they could provide a version with elevation of cells untouched. Then players can continue to get chaosed, and also still hide from others.

straight up ME battle gvgs are dumb and boring, but sure, grey world accommodates that if you like that sort of thing.

As for your stuff about chaos, that ... shouldn't affect it because unwalkable tiles are still unwalkable.... as far as i know anyway. if they're making unwalkable tiles accessible then that opens up sixty more kinds of abuse.

The only cheat I know of that affect Chaos also provides MP hack and HP/SP reaction assistance...

Squirrel is one of the most mechanically sound players I have ever seen before.

That's saying a lot. All he's saying is that good players would check for you hiding there, among other things.

AP for example on a good player really isn't huge, but on a bad player it lowers the skill cap in multitasking and anticipating damage.
