My-not-so-colorful-Easter-egg-painting-entry
I made a model of my fave monster in Ragnarok which is Maya.
(Sorry if I didn't give justice to her. I'm a bit busy lately and I'm only doing it every night before going to bed. Now deadline is fast approaching and I'll be out of town spending my holy week. Sob)

 

 

The Ingredients and the Process: I made it a collage since it took a lot of time to upload each and I'll be leaving in an hour already.

1. Schematic: I started off with a plan on how to do it but ofc i ended up not following it.

2. Egg: Drained everything inside. Let it dry. Painted in with Acrylic paint (White, Brown).

3. Poster Paint: Used it in the egg and in Maya.
4. Modelling Foam: I bought a Lil Hands Modelling foam since Air hardening clay is not available in the local bookstores (you have to buy online).
5. Yarn and Phone Sticker: I did use the yarn for the roots/vines effect. I wasn't able to use the sticker since I changed my plan.

6. Dried Twigs: For her legs. Broke it trice, stick it using the glue gun.

7. Dried Leaves: For her wings. This one's hard since it's fragile. The breaks every time I cut it a wing-shaped. I did change the type of leaf I used (refer to the next photo)

8. I assembled her already with the Human body attached to the Ant Body (egg) and the Legs. I'm about to put the wings and cape using the dried leaves.

9. Glue Gun: Stick everything!

Oh gosh great entries so far everyone! I love the creative use of materials in many of the entries too. Thank you all for the amazing eggs so far. I'm extremely impressed and this is really going to be challenging to judge.

 

Just want to remind everyone that there is 2 more days until deadline! (March 25 2016 Friday night 11.59pm! PST time) Get those eggs in!

A bit info:
The original concept was created on a scratch paper during an exam. It took me over a week to start but it used less than half an hour to create a draft of sorts.

The concept on a decent paper


First things first: the emperium


Working on my bAB


Finished!


My friend's shadow chaser (of course I don't follow my drafts all the time)
Created RPB using clay and drew accessory on a specialty paper; finished!


Created manholes that look like Beyblades; also added emoticons and dialogs


Made the maestro in a manhole


Created some stands for the eggs (without a compass)


Worked on my shadow chaser


Didn't follow again


Worked on the other shadow chaser but turned her into a GX in the end


Finished!


Added bear balloon to my first character egg


Made a confused ranger so that the maestro will not be rekt alone


Attempted to recreate the emp room similar to balder4 but ended up creating only the flags;
the two do not look alike but by then, I was already tired to recreate them


Played with my bAB a bit and gave clay poring a spike to whack some eggs

Positioned the characters even if I was already exhausted and sleepy

Additional information:
I spent over 5 hours but worked on everything within a day.
The clay porings aren't made by me -- they're keychains which I bought a few months ago.
I dropped some of the characters' lines and replaced them.
The experience is fun even if I spent hours on those eggs. The last time I used art materials was several years ago.

Monsters: Beholder Master, Beholder, and Seeker

 

 

How to make

Spoiler

Make the parts using any kind of clay, in my case air dry clay.

Paint the eggs white, white eyes.

Stick the clay parts onto the egg, cover the gaps with clay, Use water, wet clay helps.

It should look like this when its all smoothed out, gaps filled, rough surface patched, etc

Paint them all white first, for clearer colour later when painting other colour.

Done, monsters up close

 

EDIT: rewrote the year to 2016, because i still haven't celebrated new years

My entry for scene category

It's a scene of a baby Tatacho hatched. New born from New world! *glitters*

(reminds me of Chupacabra or monster from Ultraman. lol)

 

Steps :

Some of my tools, poster paint, acrylic paint, tons of glitters, used duck egg here cuz it was boiled already

 

Made the face, hands and legs from modeling compound like Play-Doh, got no clay here *quack*

Wrap the egg with cotton shred, and then make lots of triangle shape flakes for Tatacho fur :wah:I can just use paper but it's not fluffy enough.*must. look. fluffy.* XD

 

Coat the egg with white adhesive glue & put the flakes one by one, I used a tweezers here since glue all on my hand. *looks kinda creepy*

 

Color the face and body with acrylic & poster paint. *still looks creepy*

 

Paint the fur and tails too and then add some glitters

 

Used some nail polishes to add some eyes details and more glitters  Made the party hat from ordinary paper, paint it pink & gold

 

For background, put some glue on carton card and stick some tissue paper & cotton shreds to make texture and cloudy look. Paint it blue and purple to make it look like aurora

 

and finally crack another egg, don't care bout the filling lol, coat some glue outside and inside the shell, and add lot some glitters!

I wanted to show the life cycle of the creamy for the scene category.
From lowly pupa, til the time it kills its first novice =)

My apologies about the less than stellar quality of the photos, had to use my tablet since my phone won't hold a charge and I'm almost 6'5, so I cast a shadow everyyyyywhere.

Hi! Here is my submission for the Monster category: Faithful Manager

Spoiler Steps!

Step 1: Purchased/Collected materials, boiled the egg and sketched the monster for reference.



Step 2: Stuck wires onto the gold stones using hot glue gun



Step 3: Created the Faithful Manager's stone book using sketching paper and a prop gold stone. I tied the pages with wires and stuck them on with hot glue.



Step 4: Pencil-sketched the monster onto the egg as a guide.


Step 5: Painted the egg and the props/wires using acrylic paint




Step 6: Painted and cut Faithful Manager's glowing aura.


Step 7: Stuck everything together using hot glue and arranged the pieces into place. I stuck the monster on my wall with glue and tore off my wall-paint ><
