Currently due to the DDOS and login server issues, users may have trouble logging in. We are working on filtering out the attacking locations but this takes time and evolves as the attacks do.

Unable to login with Steam Account issue will be looked into on Monday (West Coast - US).

We ask you to be patient for the time being.

 

[1:37 PM July 30th ] Update from the staff:

In an effort to resolve some connection issues, we have tested a workaround that we found to be effective. However, note that this may not be applicable to persistent issues. 

Important: Before starting you must disable the Proxy/VPN used to access the game and forums.

 

Users with connection issues to patcher, forums, Warpportal main website and support are asked to temporarily switch to Google DNS.

If you are unsure on how to switch to Google DNS please visit this webpage. Once the DNS is changed please see if you can access WP services.

 

[12:09 PM July 30th ] Update from the staff:

Users who are unable to connect to game and patcher and must use a VPN to pass through please send a ticket with the following info:
 

Ticket subject: IP Block due to DDoS

Game:
Account for game (ID):

 

To get your IP please use this website.

If your IP or region are incorrect then make sure you are not using proxy at that time.

  • Will there be compensation?
    • Yes once things are stable we will reevaluate the current compensation plan. We are aware that various item mall consumables were used by users. If you consumed one the GMs can see it in the logs and restore it. Unfortunately you will have to submit a ticket for consumables as each case is unique
  • Do you have an ETA?
    • DDOS Mitigation is on. This limits the number of connections from any single play location and certain areas from logging in depending on whats been hitting us. Unfortunately between this and the ongoing DDOS users may not be able to log in. This also affects steam logins at this time.
  • Have you tried this technical solution?
    • Although we appreciate everyone offering possible solutions our team is currently busy working on the issue.
    • We have a team monitoring the servers 24/7 right now. If the logins crash they will either bring it up themselves or contact someone who can.
  • I need help.

I hope they solve the problem, and when this is regulated, a good compensation would be to implement GM assistance for mvps card desocketing, or put once for all npc desocketing. I think so, good luck.  :bow:

Thanks Camps, amazing job there.

 

But, You dont answer the second point. There is a DDoS mitigation and i assume you have a plan about this. Take your time, seriously. Me, as a player and i think can talk by several average users, we want to play softly and without a problem. Take the time you need to solve the situation. Any ETA posted its understanbable that can be aprox or may be wrong (you didnt put an ETA btw). We hope you solve this soon. Best wishes to the staff

Can you notify the support team to allow castle treasure restorations? Appears my IP falls under the location blocks right now :(

4 days of the problem, like 10 threads and finally an official thread to keep us informed. I appreciate this... But please, as a gaming company you are, really need a DDoS defense, this is the second time in a year i think or maybe a little more time. But this cannot happen again, and take action with 4 days of the issue, for the next things like this should be solved quickly.
 Also, some people can't do daily instances properly, other lost the level up chance in this days... maybe think in a compensation on the time lost will be nice too.

The compensation I want is would be something for extension for VIP

 

BUT PLEASE DONT DO IT LIKE 

 

1 day offline server = 1 day VIP extension since that 1 day offline server maybe our weekend/free day and you extended it during a work day which is a very BAD TRADE OFF.

 

Do something like this to make sure to cover the day offs

 

1-7 days offline due to DDOS = 7 days VIP

 

doesnt matter if it's only 1 or  days, extend it to 7 just to cover those free days we haven't played

 

8-14 days offline = 14 days VIP and so on.

 

My bad experience with this is when I had 3 day VIP last last year on my weekend I think and there was also A DDOS attack, though WP extended it to 3 days, that 3 days couldnt be off any use because it did fall on my work day.. It's like im paying for a service i did not even use!

 

SO PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT IT

Please also use your FB page to post real time status of the issue. When the game goes down, forum goes down as well so it's really hard to know wth is going on.

Instance was destroyed every days by DC.

For users who purchase VIP services, GM team should realize that Free VIP is not compensation.

Man, are people still not understanding that you simply cannot make a DDoS go away? There are certainly things that can be done to help mitigate one and are already likely being done, as stated by Camp. But... that's the key word, mitigate, not block or shut down.

Why don't you just close the server?
I mean some players can enter and others can't (mostly the Asians)
I don't see anything fair in keeping the server open until it's fixed,because the ddos attacker maybe the same person who wants the server clean?so he/she can get some unfair advantage?
Also the banning ups is harming more legit players than the attackers!

Dudes u don't have an Iro account on the moment? just for wait the re:start to go? i know the nostalgia thing but we have an another two warpportal servers u know xD
Classic is dead and Renewal is garbage.

While I understand DDoS attacks happen to any gaming company in iRO's case is very bad.

 

Users who cannot play will look for other options to satisfy their gaming needs. And considering the problems that have been plaguing iRO lately I'd daresay that this might give them the last nudge to finally move on or to look for other games that might hook them up.
