What the hell was wrong with..
1. Open Ygg to test Renewal (prem-only or open to all) with 10x server rate
2. after 1 month turn Ygg off and implement Renewal on Ymir
3. wait a few months
4. implement Renewal on Valk
----
seriously wtf, theres not enough PLAYERS to OPEN ANOTHER SERVER.

Please do not destroy Ymir

what would be the point of valk getting renewal months later than ymir?

Go download free download manager, it'll up your speed to 500 or so kb/s.

I wouldn't bet too much on the "fresh start" angle.
It's true that some people went from the pay servers to valk when it opened for that reason, but more than enough people play on it simply because it's f2p.
The benefits of free alt accounts is also staggering.

People continue to play on valk despite the bots and spam, and if they can't scare people away from it then you had better believe that a pay server will have trouble getting them.

I'm one of those players. I play Valk mainly, and when I heard about the new server I thought about all of the fun that comes along with starting fresh ( like I did with Valk ). But then I realized I would have to buy new sets of Kafra shop items on top of having to P2P. Plus, it's going to take forever for any amount of high level gear to hit the market, so it will be even worse than Ymir to try and buy a card or whatever. I also have my trans and high level characters primed up and ready for renewal, and so do a lot of other people. With all the excitement to level to 150 and try the new classes, starting over would be the last thing many people want to do.

But even if Ygg does draw people in, most of those people are already going to be be playing on Ymir or Valk, so it will only hurt those servers. I don't see where any victory would be -- unless they are expecting some huge revenue from valk players who don't P2P switching to Ygg. I seriously doubt that will happen. Ygg is just another Ymir, and if the target demographic is people who are reluctant to spend money, where is their special incentive?

E:
Now if they offered some kind of limited transfer to Ygg I would hop all over it. Something like a normal character transfer but with way more strict item restrictions.

Ymir gets updated before Valk, hasnt it always been like that?

on another note cant they just hold off opening P2P Ygg so they first take into account on the effects of Renewal on Ymir?
Open Ygg if it gets too crowded on Ymir, and i HIGHLY doubt thats going to happen.

This would be a wonderful time for a start fresh but to keep the server in a good way gravity will HAVE to stay on top of the bot problem on this new server.

Yggdrasil is a premium server, bots wont be much of a problem.

I'm not entirely convinced. A lot of players on valk play there not because it's free, but because it represented an opportunity to start fresh and was a competitive environment. I have a feeling that gravity is betting, and I think that its a pretty good bet, that those same players would be willing to play on a premium server for another attempt. I mean from a new players perspective, valk is overrun with bots, and vmir has more god items than it has players, a new server could represent a new opportunity, if enough people are willing to consider it. Renewal certainly gives people incentive to give it a shot.

Good insight but...
IF gravity is betting on a competitive environment, why not open a brand new premium server to start all over? or PVP server? instead of a renewal server that starts 1/1?
Would people pay money to start over 1/1 and be competitive? I'm not gonna answer that question since its obvious.

I didnt pay to play for years to have all my hard work reset. Such action sounds like failed private server management.
I guess it's a gamble will you lose more players or gain players will such actions?
Someone could make a poll about it.

I dont want to make a big issue, its been said the new server is for testing.

So there seems to be some conflicting info about joining the test server.
Do you really have to have a paid account to play on it?

According to earlier posts though it sounds like it should be accessible to anyone, especially with the announcement about it become a p2p server AFTER testing is done.

Okay time to report the first official bug. The client won't launch. Finished downloading and installing without errors. When I double click the .exe, nothing happens :p_devil: haha.

=[

So to spend all that time downloading just to find out I need a sub just to test renewal. That's quite saddening Heim. It's stuff like this that makes me not want to even bother with RO.

Yeah definitely use a Download Manager if you want faster speeds... went from 50kb/sec to 300kb/sec.

It was said that it would become the second premium server after testing is over, it somewhat implied that it would be free, at least until testing was finished.

Guess it will be a bit longer before I get to try renewal.

Thankfully I don't think iRO's renewal testing will take for very long seeing as everything is already there, the testing is just to make sure the skills work right, the game doesn't blow up when you kill a poring or somehow miss a mistranslation like a bottle mislabeled to p0n0s.
I'd give it a month.

Client tells me to pay for testing after spending hours to download that 1.5G file. :p_devil:

If GM wants to attract valk players to new premium, this needs to be fixed asap.

Why do you so often fail to give us full info from the start. And its mostly stuff that will obviously raise questions and need clarification LOL

Well, it was shown on the regular Ragnarok client and not the RagnarokFree one, so I guess I kinda assumed it would need a sub then. Not that it matters to be, but yeah.

Successfully downloaded and installed. I have several accounts with hourly subs left so I was hoping to be able to use this on yggdrassil, but it seems I'm unable to log in. "No available game time."

Is the server down and giving this as a default error or do I seriously have to pay for a month sub to see this?
