I'm glad to hear an official renewal announcement. The idea of making a new premium server once renewal is fully implemented sounds kind of stupid though since the premiums are declining. I'm guessing they have heard the people saying they want a new server to start from scratch.

Essentially Sakary server has become the hodge podge PvP server for both servers. From what has been said in other threads/forums.

Yggdrasil was supposed to replace Sakray as a test server and all I'm hearing from the announcement is that it'll be a pay-to-play server which is what test servers have always been. The character reset is so people DON'T start creating a community on there like what happened with old Sakray. But so far everyone's crying wolf and there's not a CM in sight to clarify what's going on.

Since Sakray is to be a cross-server PVP server, then it would make sense to make it free-to-play, which explains why Yggdrasil is to be the 2nd premium server since it takes over as the new test server.

Lovely... so our choices are:

Ymir - The vet version of Iris - keep all your stuff, but be on a server that slowly dies, as no newbie will ever join it again

Ygg - Fresh start, fresh community, and lose everything we've ever done in the game

As an added bonus, any guild that can't reach a consensus on this decision breaks in half when Renewal hits.

I think the 2nd server is a great idea... but 2-3 months after Renewal hits, not day 1.

It's fine and all, but we need a 100% confirmation...will we get to continue on Renewal with our characters and gears that we have put well over 5-7+ years into, or will we all need to start completely over from scratch? This will be a highly defining factor for a lot of people.

Yea good luck on that. Gravity just loves letting its players know when something is happening.

Better yet, open another server when we hit an overpopulation problem. That's what other MMOs do because they have that problem, whereas RO doesn't.

If they cannot handle 2 servers,Ymir + Valk, why add another server? Aren't those 2 handful already? Lag issues, bots, un-resolved tickets, bugs, etc... do we get reply,-- yes, but after 100 years. It would be funny tho if they did launch 'it' and no 1 actually goes to play/try/test, I mean not even a single person bothers to try it.

Here's a food for thought. What about our little VAS known as server transfer? I suppose we'll be able to do Valk>Ygg and Ymir>Ygg and Ygg>Ymir transfers once we get Renewal on the mains.

Pay to transfer and be absolutely Godly until the rest of the server catches up! Dominate WoE and farm God Items!

If they offer the transfer they might as well put something like that in there to sell the service.

The best answer would probably be to allow transfers to Ygg, but lock them out for a good 6 months, so we don't get a repeat of The Valk Alliance That Owned The Game.

Still, since absolutely every newbie is going to want to be on Ygg, I can't see any value in remaining on Ymir if you're at ALL a social player.

I would glady join ygg if I knew the stuff on the server would stick after renewal hit mains,I enjoy starting on brand new servers where no players are established.

I plan on testing on Yggdrasil and when it gets reset I'm going back to Ymir. Whether Ygg stays or not doesn't matter to me.

Wierd, its under my normal RO. I logged on to character select and made my character. It turned into a Blacksmith with goggles on. Then it errored me out. Now i can't get in =D

I"ll be quite upset if they make a new P2P server and thin the population out even further. Ymir already seems like it's shrunk down to pre-merger chaos size.

I am pretty sure we would need to download the new data( client?) because renewal has alot of new skills, new maps and other things.

If you all payed attention... It stated that you could log on and that you would error out if ran under the normal client. You probably will have to download another ro client, like Valk/Ymir.
